vibration/buzz at 2500-3000 rpm

Hi, new forum member here. I just purchased a used 2007 Fit Sport, used with 48k miles, manual transmission.

The car has an odd vibration/buzzing sound that occurs between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Sounds kind of like an exhaust leak, but I'm pretty sure it's not since it only occurs in this rpm range (and it sounds more like it's under the hood). Just seems louder than it should.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. Since this is a new car for me, I want to make sure it's not "normal" before I go into panic mode!

Thanks in advance for the help.

These things are tough to find.
The first thing I would do is check the bolts and fasteners on the exhaust system from head to exhaust muffler.
The second is check the exhaust shields on the same. A little bend can make a big difference.
After that I'd check wiring looms and guides. Especially against the hood .
And then I'd have to look elsewhere but your guess is as good ass mine.
The reason I picked the exhaust system is the exhaust tends to have a wide variance in frequency and amplitute with rpm so vibrations can occur easily in one short range and not another. Its all a guessing game
good luck.

Status update: In case anyone experiences something similar, my buzz was coming from the exhaust heat shield right behind the motor. Loosened all the bolts, and re-torqued them evenly... problem solved. Thanks for the advice!

i didnt see this thread earlier. first places to check are the heat sheilds
for rattles coming from under the car that directly relates to engine rpm.

glad you got it taken care.
