Short ram and fuel economy?

I have read alot about all of the available intakes and appreciate all the info everyone has provided.

From what I have seen, a short ram intake (Fujita, K&N) should give better throttle response and also change engine sound a bit, but I havent seen any comment about fuel economy.

I love the FIT and dont want to mess with the 30+ mpg, so any advice on how this mod would affect that would be great.

Thanks!

From what I have read and the fact that I run an SRI, there is nothing that shows a major decrease in MPG. I average 38MPG with mine installed with the lowest being 32MPG.

I did the Sid autozone short ram. I've actually noticed my MPH go up from being usually 31-33mpg to around 33-35 mpg

Avoid K&N- no mpg increase, bad fit due to poor design, and lies to our forums.

Thanks for all the help. I'll have to make a decision on which way to go soon.

Hi I'm also curious about the result. I'm not sure but I think when adding a Mod that makes the engine breath easier, you get more power and more mpg.

I'm curious about the mileage thing as well regarding modifying the intake on the Fit. I'm thinking about doing something, I mean, even 1 or 2 horsepower may be noticeable in a light a lightly powered car like the Fit.

Im planning on getting the T1R chamber intake.
it helps in a full powerband not like CAI's or SRI's.
more air can mean a better combustion, better mpg.
nothing is in stone but yeah.

I have a short ram Dragon R
on my car and I'm switching back to the stock air box. It actually dropped my mileage a bit, adds maybe 5 hp which can't be felt and I have to take it out every 3,000 miles to clean it. And when it gets dirty and I can't egt around to cleaning it my mileage goes waaaaay down.

Save your money and just drive around making motor boat noises with your mouth cause that's about all a short ram gives you, more sound.

Sri

I heard it will only benefit you when driving at a higher RPM which equals more fuel consumption. I used to have SRI on my Civic, but was always tempted to rev it high for sound and HP response.
