Ethanol? Omg!!!

Well the last station in my area has joined the other stations and is using 10% ethanol in their fuel. There are so many opinions and pros and cons that it's confusing what to believe, so I called Honda America and was told that as long as there is no more than 10%, everything is fine and should cause no concerns. Anybody heard anything else?

This has been long in coming, and most manufacturers have known there is going to be a partial ethanol blend in their fuel. So no it won't cause any issue with your car.

But yeah, I don't care for ethanol at all...it's just not a long term solution and not a very good short term on either..

Be more terrified for those of us in MN, there is a push to try to get 20% as a standard blend instead of 10%...In addition to not liking ethanol, I wonder how auto manufacturers will handle this for warranty or if they'll try to use it as an out.... which reminds me, I need to write my legislature rep and complain...

My opinion it can be offered, but it shouldn't be subsidized or forced...

AFAIK, all cars sold in NA are able to run on up to 10% ethanol blend. I notice a decrease in fuel economy with the blend, but doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I knew what I was getting into with my AT, but that doesn't mean I can't be a little envious.

I know for a fact that with my old car when I used fuel with 10% ethanol I noticed a decrease of at least 1 to 2 mpg. Not much but with the way gas prices are every bit helps.

We get 10%ish ethanol in our gas up here mandatory for certain periods of the year. It does drop mpg.

I have been running 10% ethanol in all of my cars since about 1992 living in Central Illinois. This is now normal. I am surprised that it took this long to get to Oklahoma.

Off topic: Looks like you guys now have the NBA in OKC! You get the sucky Sonics without the name, colors and records. Those stay behind along with $45 mil now and another $30 mil in 2013.

I have only put ethanol in my Fit, from day 1 since it is the cheapest out there, and I can not complain about my MPG's.

mandatory

In Missouri the governor is attempting to make some ethanol in gas mandatory. So far it hasn't happened but it's, perhaps, inevitable. I'd prefer to avoid it in the fit but I'm glad Honda's planned for it and that many of you are running it without major repercussions.

i also dont mind using Ethanol mix in my car just because it's been around so long here.

Off topic: man who cares if the Sonics are sucky this year, its the 41 years of history they gave us in Washington that counts. Now its all gone =[.

I hope they don't push ethanol on us here in Texas. Besides a decrease in mileage, biofuels are also increasing food prices.

Hey I love the Sonics. I hope someone other than the City will invest the money to either replace or redo the Key arena and bring a new team to show Clay Bennet how a team should be owned. This is what Cleveland has been trying to do with the Browns football (See: Art Modell and the Ravens).
To bad he didn't sell to Paul Allen when Paul wanted to buy a basketball team 10 years ago, he bought the Trailblazers down the road in Portland.

Dude, check the pump. I'm in DFW and they all have 10% (m)eth, it's been like that for a few years... Anywhere with a decent sized population here does...

Fwiw, I drive like an asshole and get 35mpg in my manual sport on the ethanol gas...
