Peak TQ is the same in the 2009 Fit as the 2008

 

not to nickpick but the info I received is 1lb different 08:105@4800 and 09 106@4800, I am wrong?

I got my info out of the Honda Owner manuals. 2008 and 2009
Maybe one more of a cheaper translation than the other lol

PS the 2008 has folding side mirrors

I'm wondering if the headrest frame of the 09 Fit is the same as the Headrest Frame of the 08 Fit for the Rear Seats. If so then I could buy the 09 rear headrest's and put them on my 08 Fit and have the benefit of the headrests being out of my rear view vision when they are down, would any one know? Sometimes parts from one year will Fit to the next year depending on the part.

 

there may be an easy way. My Chevy all you had to do was pull the hand brake on just enough to turn on the brake light. Drove it like that for 10 years lol

 

3. No. The Corolla is cheap inside and out, and drives very vaguely, as if it's sort of floating across the road. The steering is crappy, in other words. It feels as if it needs some sort of alignment tightening or something. I hated it! The Scion xD has got to be better for handling, and the Fit is WAY better!

 

Why would the MT get less MPG than the AT for 2009.

Seems like the 2008 was the other way around? Anyone know?

 

im guessing the gearing in the mt that changed would have caused this...

 

Damn you Canada! You get the windsheild washer fluid light and heated side mirrors as options!

at 75mph the AT gets better mpg
at 65mph the MT gets better mpg

On the TOV their 2009 Fit 'First Drive' stated that the '09 Fit's manual transmission gear ratios were lowered between 3-8%, while the gear ratios for the auto transmission stayed the same.

So people with the MT will get more accelleration, but poorer mileage. The MT gear ratio changes will also mean more engine noise at highway speed...

oh thats kind of wack then shorter gears for mt. hmm well i guess thats there thoughts on making the car more better on gas to me makes no sense should have longer gears with lots of trq will be better on gas but i guess they think 119hp will do it.

the market for a FIT, but not sure to go for the 08 or 09. They are reposting quite a bit because a) they do not read the 66+ pages on the 09, and/or b) do not search.

I don't know what's happened with Toyota. They used to offer quality cars at any price point, and now it seems all but perhaps the highest-end cars are cheaply made. They have hard, cheap-feeling plastic interiors, sharp edges on dashboards, insignificant cushioning, and weird handling. Maybe a Lexus would be substantial and have fitted parts, I don't know. I know I can't afford that, and don't want the maintenance headache and the status symbol prestige.

Even though the Corolla and the Matrix are supposed to be the exact same car, they felt completely different to drive. I would perhaps buy a Matrix but I can't see out of the windows properly and Honda has a better product in the Fit - better mileage, better design, better all around.

When I drove a 29K Rav4 and felt the dash, opened the glovebox, opened and shut the doors (a harsh sound, not that dull "thump" of a well-made door), I realized that I don't want to pay another 12 THOUSAND of my precious dollars for a cheaply made car, however attractive it might be, and however mechanically sound it may still be. And, on top of that, it still gets only 19-20 mpg in the city, where I do most of my driving.

I realize the Matrix, Yaris and Corolla are Toyota's lowest-price cars, but even so, cut out stuff that doesn't matter and give me a well-made car with the basics. That's just my opinion, though. We used to be a totally loyal Toyota family. Then the '07 Camry had problems, and I actually drove the '08 and '09 cars and saw what a difference just 4 years had made. My hubby's 4Runner is a nice car and feels like a Caddy compared to the newer Rav4. It's a truck, sure, and jittery to drive, but at least all the parts are substantial and nicely fitted. The doors go "thunk" after 4 years. We'll keep it as long as it lasts, and I doubt if Toyota will get a second glance from now on.

There quality is inversely proportional to the volume. As they went of on a quest to out pace the big three, so went the quality.

To be honest, Honda is also having issues making a well designed quality car, the last 10 years. The only reason the Fit has done well is because of the increasing cost of fuel. If gas was $2/ Fit would have luke warm sales here for sure.
