I don't think there's any way Honda would sell an AWD Fit in the US, especially since it cuts down on MPG.

I'm changing this post to: "I do not mean everyone."

This way I can be real PC, make lots of friends (not here now, for I have forsaken you all and you have ousted me now) so I will go to another unsuspecting board and become their friends instead. I will lie to them and not tell them the truth about how they are compulsive and wasting their money.

This way, they will not tell me how they HAVE waited and how they HAVE the way out if they do not like the car. They will not deny it is their ego that puts a car on hold creating a frenzy on boards like this and elsewhere for a run on the cars they want. "Whaaaa, I want to be first! Memememe..." They will not say that like richpt below who believes he is just an innocent little character.

Yes...they will not have to make excuses and play innocent as well. For I will not put them through that horror...the truth.

So I will take my leave, so to post anything to me will be moot. But this is good for you, since saying anything will have no rebuttle and make you feel that you are innocent and you are truthful and you have done no wrong.

But you will be wrong, because everytime you sign those financing papers and YES even mortgages you will think of how others out here do not do that. Yes, we pay with things like our fathers did, with cash. Imagine that! No credit! Wow! We actually can AFFORD to buy things...not because we are rich (read "The millionaire next door") but because we are smart and save our money and do NOT buy new things we cannot really afford. (Oh by the way, I use my credit card every month and pay it off to get rewards of cash back).

Hey Richtp...try not making a mortgage payment on your house and see if you really own it.

And don't give me hype about renting and how you would be throwing your money away like they fooled people like you into believing...that is why we are in the crapper. Try reading something on the internet besides this forum which is making you stupid.

Why I Should EVER Buy a House?

The repo man is happy to hear you defending the position of finance...even if you do pay your bills on time you still make banks richer than heck. Thank you my kind friends.

Tough times are good for repo men - The Connecticut Post Online

Now I take my leave...goodbye dear readers, may you always live in your happy little world of delusion where no one critisises you or opposes your fairyland tale of a united forum. One where "friends" (thank you for clarifying what true friends are txmatt) gather to speak of the Honda Fit in glorious terms and never say anything about how people like you are acting irresponsible and that there are alternitive ways of thinking.

Bye.

Have you considered that some of us HAVE done our research and homework already? I test drove an 08, read all I could find on the 09, and placed an order. I have not put down any money yet and if I don't like the car, it's ok with the dealership because someone else will want it. I am under no obligation to purchase the car, I just have the first chance to purchase it. This has nothing to do with ego. I looked at what the 09 was going to have an decided I wanted an 09 instead of an 08. I personally don't care what anyone else thinks of me and the car I own, it's what I think and how I feel that matters.

As for cash, well, it's very nice that you can do that. Some of us don't have that ability. Since deciding I wanted an 09, we've been saving money for a down payment to lower our monthly payments and plan on paying off the car early.

Call me stupid if you want, that's ok. I have done my homework, know I'm 99% sure I'm going to want this car, and have got my finances setup to make payments. It is a good move for me and my family.

But this thread makes me wonder what the heck people are thinking. I at least test drove the 08. Why would you order a car without driving it? The same impulsive behavior that makes people marry someone they figure out later on...that's why 50% of marriages end in divorce.

Just wait, take a test drive. Is it that important that you have something your friends don't have yet? Seriously we need to consider this ego minded way of being. I for one consider it extremely stupid and it just adds to the frenzy.

Remember people in the housing bubble...OH! I gotta get one now...it's so hot and prices only go up.

We knew about this crash for years previous and we stated it all over the internet. But who listened?

Lastly, shouldn't more people here be buying their cars with cash? I mean it's only $17,000 out the door here with the sport auto. But why not save your money for a while and stop getting the first year pre orders and SAVE!

I pay cash for all my vehicles. And I do make a lot now but there was a time I didn't...I actually saved and bought used. The dealership makes crazy money off of you when you finance anything...do the numbers and see. If you cannot buy it outright, you cannot afford it and it is NOT yours.

Get it all right now...call it yours (even though it is NOT yours...try not making a payment and you'll see).

The American way.
While I appreciate your rant I must disagree with your point about financing. I have never financed any of my cars, so that is a moot point for me. However I do not agree it is your place to question someone that is financing a car without having first hand knowledge of their personal financial situation.

Did you finance "your" house?

The American way.

How to make friends fast on a forum... show up and with your first post criticize most of the existing forum members (some of whom have put a deposit on an '09 and most of whom have financed a car before).

Yup, I went into my local Honda dealer (here in Bishop, California -- the boonies!) a couple of weeks ago and put a $500 deposit down to secure my 2009 Honda Fit Sport in Milano Red. It was either that or white. Both cars are scheduled to arrive here in early October. It is soooo hard reading about other Honda Fits on this list and having to wait for mine! I can't wait, but it looks like I'll have to!

Wow... .... I for one have had the luck of test driving several different versions on the new Fit ( JDM version ) and Being I have owned my 1st gen Fit ( GD1 ) for over 6 years.... I feel that Buying a 09 ( US version ) when I come back to the States later this year will be a smart choice. But for sure this is not in anyway Impulsive

No I didn't. But it is my place, as a financial advisor I can and do make this call every day. Although it is true there are some that indeed need to finance, we all would not be in this credit crisis and be the #1 nation of NON savers in the world if it were necessary across the board.

I'm not looking to kmake friends chief. Actually this is an interesting observation as well. Lie to everyone and say the things you do to wear a mask and flitter around the real issues to make what you call friends. That is what you do. So one should not say the truth in order to coddle others?

Listen...these are not friends. They are faceless individuals on the internet you most likely would be surprised at appearancewise if you saw them. YTou don't help them move nor hang out with them or their woves except for special circumstances. If you call people here your "friend" your definition of friend is very low.

Get out from being on the computer or you'll end up like the kids in Southpark on that episode.

And never say anything bad about anyone because you offend them. So am I offending you personally...or them? I know none of you and ya know what chief, neither do you. These are people most of which you will never and have never met. Maybe at an extreme in a meet somewhere in which you will still not know who they are. I did not attack anyone, I critisized ceretain actions about financing and the ego...that is not YOU...unless you think you are your decisions...which you are not. You are more than that.

I agree with you. You are one of the exceptions. It is amazing to me how others are defending the other position though. Most people have not gone to Japan and taken a test ride, that would be great. What do you think of the comparison in detail?

Let me say: did I really have to add "I do not mean everyone" to my post above? Okay, I will...

Waiting list

Just got a call back from a dealer in my area. (Hudson Valley) I talked to him a couple weeks ago about pre-ordering or waiting lists for the '09.

He told me they have one more '08 on order; a blue base auto. After that it's '09s. He said they were going to start making them in August. And that the dealership was getting quite a few in. They had several people on a waiting list, which meant giving a vehicle preference and leaving a hundred dollar deposit, which I did with credit card. Deposit is fully refundable if I choose not to get car for any reason.

He said he'd keep me up to date about any more info they get. Including when they are shipped and any brochures or pricing info. And they would not push or insist on any add ons or extras such as paint protection.

So unless I change my mind, there's a Red Base Auto in my future. Yippee!
