Ethanol Fit?
I was the first poster for this thread way back when (heh), and I was thinking from a racer viewpoint. I go to the drag races a lot and alcohol powered cars always produce more power than cars on gasoline. I'm not sure about a gas/alcohol mix. I'm thinking that if a regular car could run on 100% alcohol or ethonol, that it should have more power and less miles per gallon, and burn cleaner than gasoline. From what I've heard from the racers, engines that run on alcohol are hard on rubber hoses, etc etc, so maybe that would be something that car mfgrs would need to concentrate on if they designed the engine to run on pure alcohol or ethonol. Just for yuks and grins, I once saw a cartoon, showing a car driving thru polluted air, with clean air coming out of the exhaust pipe. Maybe not such a joke after all, huh?
Gasoline contains more energy(hydrogen) than E85. Those are Methanol
(wood alcohol) I believe so it may be different.
They may make more power because they dump so much fuel in them so
quickly. They are'nt more effiecient I would bet.
