Question Honda Fit keyless entry integrated w/ key?

Is this 07/08 Fit keyless entry fob integrated with the key like the one pictured below from a Civic?

Non-sport models have keyless entry as a dealer-installed accessory, with a fob separate from the key. It operates on a different frequency from the integrated fob/key so you can't replace it with one, or the Acura switchblade key/fob. There's a thread about it in the DIY section of the forum.

so there is absolutely no way to DIY an integrated FOB for the dealer-installed keyless entry? Bummer....

As I understand it, no.

Here's the related thread:

Not true. The instructions for the Base keyless entry include programming the entry module to accept new fobs. You'll need to get a Fit Sport fobbed key blank cut to fit your ignition lock, transfer the startup chip (I forget the correct name for this doohickey) from the old key to the new, then program the keyless entry to accept the fob. You might be able to have the ECU programmed to accept a new startup chip but that would require going back to the dealer.

I'd say it was possible but not cheap if you have to reprogram the ECU as well. There were instructions for getting access to the startup chip inside the key on the forum but I've forgotten where. A FitFreaker was trying to use an Acura, Accord or Civic blank with the Fit I think (the link in the above post is the right one). I think this was an attempt to use a fob they had on hand.

I have a separate fob and have no complaints.
