i have a few chips on the hood, and i noticed a couple of blemishes from the factory, but it doesn't bother me that much.
i'll probably repaint the car a different color someday anyway. i've seen some of the work at 1-day paint and body, they seem to do decent work. not show car quality or anything, but probably better than OEM, haha. they're not too expensive either.
my fiance's fit has a few chips on the hood and a couple chips and scratches on the rear bumper. we have no idea where those came from, some terrible drivers in her work's parking structure i guess. makes us pretty mad. maybe we'll paint her fit a different color too.

Maybe i'll paint hers Isis Red Pearl:

and maybe i'll paint mine Sparkle Gray Mica

or blue steel mica (from subaru)

or championship white

for the record...

If there is a car manufacturer not using the base coat / clear coat system today I'm not aware of them. The last car I heard of with a 1 step paint was the A series Miata in the mid to late 90's.

Adding coats of clear over the factory clear is not something I'd recommend. When applying clear, coats are added at typically a 15 minute flash interval. To get new coats to adhere you'd need to sand the existing finish.....

I appreciate those that can't do - teach ..... I helped teach an auto body class at an adult education center for a time (it provided me free access to the paint booth)

Don't repaint cuz "you have no clear"
and
don't try to "add clear" ....

This has baffled me also.
Until I took some clear coat polish to remove a scratch.
The white terry cloth had red on it! My car is red!
No clear here..........

I just got my Fit out of the body shop today from having the front bumper removed to repair the peeling paint in the seam next to the side panels. They did a great job and I am happy that it was under warranty. If I would have had to pay for the sanding, painting and clear coating it would have cost $328.40 and that was just for the bumper!
