Sad day: Hit and Run(?)
i agree, get a brand new bumper, that's what i did when i was rear-ended by a young kid, i got a new bumper instead of fixing even though the bumper's fixable
i have to agree 100%. I would never let someone say that they will pay for it so thier rates go up from my experinces they never do.
damn dude. same thing happened to me twice. Once just like you but second was MUCH worse. They smashed the whole door sking in. That wasnt cheap considering my insurance had lapsed and came out my pocket.
sorry to hear about what happened i was reading everything and from my opinion i work on fits all the time fix them up..but i would definetly get a new bumper it only cost a bodyshop $150 for a new bumper your front lip should be ok and foglights they have to really sand it down if they are not going to replace it because the chips might show up in the new paint. If i was in your situation i would take it to shop that dealer recommended "higher price better job":. Hope everything goes well for you!!
Okay guys, here's the update.
I just got back from the body shop next to my dealership, I was quoted $794! He was explaining how the bumper has to be removed and the fog light covers has to be fixed as well. There are also charges for the tow hook cover too, so it comes up to be around $500ish + labour.
Obviously, I called up the dude and told him about the estimate, he asked if I wanted to bring it to a shop that he goes to and can do it for cheaper. As first I didn't want to because the car is still new, so doing it with Honda was a good idea for me. He told me if I wanted, I can go through with insurance, but I agreed to go drive over to the other body shop to get an estimate. His body shop, I was quoted $403, almost half of what the dealer is charging. The dude said he'll pay for the $403 from his body shop and if I want, I can go through with insurance or take the cash. The body shop promise that they would do the same things that the dealer would be doing; taking apart the bumper and repainting etc. And if I have any problem, I can bring it back to them and stuff like that.
I haven't decided yet, I have until Tuesday of next week to make up my mind.
