What is drafting, pulse, and gliding?
I'd like to learn more about getting the most miles out of my Fit, but I need to know what these terms mean.
I drive mostly city, so do those terms only apply to interstate driving?
ETA: After doing more reading, I'm beginning to think these terms apply to manual transmissions. I have an automatic.

I am pretty sure that this thread will be able to help you in the future.

think there is a specific eco-thread that explains some more of this stuff too..... I'll check.

Your best bet is to lurk at cleanmpg.com
In short:
Drafting - driving behind a vehicle(within reason or not depending on how close you want to get). This will reduce air/wind resistance a major mpg killer
P&G = Pulse and Glide - Pulse is the act of increasing your speed say 40mph to 50mph. Where 40mph is your lower limit and 50mph is your upper limit. Glide is what the car does as it decelerates from 50mph to 40mph and this is usually done with the engine off. This will yield better mpg than driving at a constant speed of the median of the two speeds. The key factors are the acceleration rate of the Pulse and the glide time. You want the Glide to be longer than the pulse usually a ratio of 1:2(P&G).

Thanks! Chances are if you don't understand, many others don't either! I love your monkey avatar as well. I have no idea whatsoever as to why that monkey stuff entertains me!
