Bike rack (rear hitch mount)

MP3/Ipod player compatibility would be a given. It's a must. Scion has it and so should Honda given that they're going after the same/similar target market.

Beside that, I'd love to see a BMW Mini-style sportslink bike-mount in the rear. It could be a hitch-style or other form factor but I'd love to be able to mount a bike in the rear rather than on the top of the car. It'd be more aerodynamic and more gas mileage friendly.

TIA,
Zany

Roof mounting of bikes is recommended by Honda for safety sake and offered as an option. The cars manual specificly warns against rear mounted bike racks.

I guess that means it's unlikely. I was thinking about adding a hitch (specifically for bike mounts not for towing) and getting Yakima/Thule hitch mount for Fit/Jazz. We shall see.

Actually, I've already read that. Thanks for pointing it out though.

I am not interested in the rear door mount as much as the hitch mount or mini-sportslink style mount. I am not 100% sure by what Honda means by warning against rear mount bike racks, whether it pertains to door mount or any hitch mount. It might be just legal disclaimers or not. I'll have to see. Hopefully, it would be feasible to add aftermarket hitch mount for the bike rack. Don't worry. I am stupid enough to tow a trailer or anything. =)

Bike Mount

You know, with a little ingenuity, it might be possible to mount one or two bikes inside the car behind the front seats. Someone would have to design a way to install the mounts so that when they aren't being used, rear passengers would still have foot room, or they could be removeable. If you are only taking yourself and a friend, you could put the bikes in and still have the luggage compartment for all the other stuff. I don't have a Fit, but I rented a Jazz this weekend, and stuffed my mountain bike in the back to ride home after I dropped the car back at the rental office. Just raised the back seat cushions, and in it went. All I had to do to close the door was drop the rear wheel out of the frame. Had I removed the front, like the better racks do, it would have been even been easier.
