Trust me what you feel and may what to see is better but it's been hashed out many times before this. Just figured I'd toss you some help.

Do you think your tank to tank repeatability is capable of seeing a 2mpg shift?
Well here's an update. today I have 452 miles in my tank and refilled with 10.12gal. I believe that my mpg is higher with my K&N air filter since I drove the car hard for 65-70 miles with hard acceleration and speed between 65-78mph because I was late for work. The rest of the miles was driven conservatively cruising between 52-55mph but most of the time I was at 55mph without FAS and P&G.

If I did not drive hard for 65-70 miles that time I would be around 480-500miles in a tank with tire pressure at 40psi or below(I have not check the pressure but last time I was as 40psi with warm weather and now its cold).

Compairing to my 445 miles tank cruising at 55mph without P&G and FAS at 30-32psi with clean OEM air filter that is around 40-50miles increase in a tank. But I will do more test to prove my theory.

44.97 MPG on I-5 from Yreka, CA to Stockton, CA 309.8 miles* 6.889 gal.

I could have gone many more miles, but I was traveling with a 16 foot Budget Rental truck, and I filled up when the truck filled up.

Overall mileage after 15121 miles: 37.48 MPG.

No, I did not over fill for that tank or the previous two. I have only over filled 2 or 3 times to see how accurate my mpg is compared to the first click at the pump. It is pretty good not to mention it will all average out.

Allthough this is not for a full tank it was my best measured mpg to date. I did a Fuel economy race today it was a 125.1 mile loop through mostly 55mph speed limit 2 lane highway rolling terrain. I burned 2.77 gallons of gas which works out to 45.16mpg. I am not a real hypermiler at all I was just curious to see what I could get. I was shifting at 2500 rpm's and keeping the car between 40-50 mph while cruising. With the majority of my driving right around 45mph. I did as much 5th gear coasting as possible too. I have yakima roof bars on the car as well. I was very happy with the results.

How are you Fit drivers getting those high MPG numbers. I have an 08 AT Fit Sport and the best I can get is 33 MPG. I have not had a road trip yet and drive about 15 miles round trip to work and back 5 days a week in town and some running around in city driving on weekends. I don't have a heavy foot but at times do push it due to traffic demands/crazy drivers. I have the K & N air filter and very seldom use AC. Maybe it is the 87% octane corn gas? I will check my tires. Is it OK to be doing 40-50 psi with OEM tires? Thanks for any ideas you have.

Noooo don't over inflate your tires because you will have uneven tire wear, I was able to achieve 40+mpg with 30psi tires. If you want to get good gas mileage, I would suggest for you to drive at speed limit or slower than speed limit nad don't accelerate fast/hard. Also see what is ahead of you, if you see the light turning red, let go of the gas and let the car roll to a stop.

man hahaha I have to admit that is great. What techniques did you use? I only drove the speed limit and putting the gear in neutral while downhill, no FAS and P&G.

Great numbers man. I believe you know hold the record no? Frickin' sweet!!

I'm still hovering around the 44ish' range.

Dude, with a 02' Insight you would be "that guy" that's pullin' 120mpg!

My best mpg to date was 551.2 miles / 11.1 gal = 49.65 mpg.

If you're curious about the 11 gallons, I refuse to buy gas in Jefferson county Kentucky since they mandated the 'reformulated' crap. I know from experience that I get 13-15% worse FE, and it costs more. I stopped the night before and added 1.011 gal to make sure that I could make it out of Louisville before filling. Tire pressure at 44 psi, limited P&G and FAS. Base AT.

My last tank was my best so far. I went from 48953 to 49408 (455 miles) on 8.52 gallons (53.4 mpg).

The only thing I notice is I achieved this while doing P&G, FAS and driving slow like 52mph with cruise control. I was able to get 445 in a tank last time just cruising at 52-55mph without P&G and FAS and fill of 10.172. Seems the difference is very little since I drive 90% highway and 10% city. Now I have my K&N air filter, maybe i will get more on a tank.
What is P&G and FAS?

Help

I drive conservatively, watch the road ahead, no fast starts, and do not go over 3 grand ( well most of the time, sometimes I just have to kick it and "cut some corners" to feel young again ) on the 15 mile trip to work & back. 15 miles of stop and go with top speed limit of 50mph in a couple areas. I use the ethenol 89 gas (called corn gas here in Nebraska) and have automatic transmission, K & N filter. Is 33pmg about right? I need to get out and try a road trip but have not had the need and don't want to waste gas, extra miles or $ just to see what kind of milage I would get. I will stop whinning and see what all of you Fit Freaks say.

Update on my mpg, I was able to put 483.5 miles in my last tank with 10.571 refill which equals to 45.738mpg. I'm sure that my K&N helped because I was not able to do get this miles in a tank when I had the OEM air filter because I was driving the same and using the same road everyday. I did not check the tire pressure and it was at 40psi 1 or 2 months ago and the weather was warm that time. I was cruising at 52-55mph and most of the time I was at 55mph.

Edit: BTW, I'm all stock except K&N air filter

Hi Jen, P&G is pulse & glide and FAS is Force Auto Stop. Visit cleanmpg.com and do a search about P&G and FAS.
