What's your best mpg per tank?
Hi and welcome to fitfreak.net. Those are good numbers. Are basing your numbers by the mpg indication on your dash or are you manually calculating it? I'm just asking because the mpg indicator is known to be optimistic and the reading is off by about 5mpg. So if you are getting 41mpg, you're really getting around 36mpg..
I only doublechecked on the first tankful, but I will do the math again by filling the tank when I get the opportunity. I ordinarily only drive about 200 miles a week. Thanks.
In summer.... on a Highway.... 857km for 45liters.....
Tires at 36Psi, No rear seats, No road salt in the trunk, Fujita SRI, Denso IK22 plugs, freshly waxed car if it really matters... Ohh and a boring 55- 60Mph MAX!!
Marko!!

Correct me if I'm wrong because I live in Canada, but I think I did 48MPG. (4.9l/100km) --> I used this calculator MPG Calculator Calculate Fuel Consumption / Efficiency in Miles per Gallon
I think it's quite impressive!
I got a 2009 M/T and I was driving in cruise control @ 100km/h // 61MPH, don't know my tire pressure...
I don't know how you did better MPG than me haha, at which speed and which gear do you have your better ECO? I think @ 55MPH on 5th gear is really ECO.
What's your opinion?

Is dashboard MPG indicator accurate?

The automatic indicator on the dash was at 33.4 mpg! So it turned out to be pessimistic by 1.682 mpg, rather than optimistic by 5 mpg.
My plan is to now drive the Fit until I need nearly a full tank to fill it up and check again.
Of these 153 miles, I'd guesstimate 70%/30% city/highway, around my little town. I did mostly 1-3 mile trips mixed with two round trips of 20 and 60 miles. I use most hypermiling techniques, not including FAS of course, or drafting obviously since I'm not on a multi-lane highway.
I'm driving a 2010 Fit Sport MT, purchased in January. No passengers, no modifications. It's cold weather here but not wicked cold. Use heater only when I'm really uncomfortable or to clear the windshield.
What's your take, or anyone else, on this? Does that dashboard mpg indicator work or not??
I followed Black01's suggestions and I checked my mpg by manual calculation after 7 days - I was too impatient to wait until the tank was nearly empty. I don't drive as much as you and many other Fit owners. Anyway, manual calculation of 4.364 gals and 153.1 yields 35.082 mpg.

Anyways I notice an increase on my mpg from 32-34mpg to 38.12mpg today when I filled up. This is the result of adjusting the valve clearance. I have 322.5 miles when I filled up and the gallons it took was 8.456 gallons. This was running between 55mph-60mph and sometimes going 65mph. I will be readjusting the clearance again this weekend because I think the exhaust side needs to be loosened a little bit.
What? 15mpg is rediculous. I cannot get that even if I try lol! If I get that type of mpg, I will complain to the dealer and have them check the car if the car is under warranty.

The best MPG i've ever gotten on my 08 M/T was roughly 40-42mpg. I want to say that it could have been a little higher but I had a full car of 4 people with luggage too. This was when I drove from Los Angeles, to Santa Barbara, than to Monterey Bay and back. But usually with 75% city, 25% highway I get from 29-31mpg.
So far best is 43 mpg with passenger and bikes and travel stuff but no rear seats (rear seats are in the living room). However, I knew nothing about proper driving in the Fit which is so different from Gen 1 Insight, so I hope to do a lot better!
Some of you are getting amazing mpg. I myself have an update on my mpg. today I was able to pull 443.7 miles in a tank and refilled it with 9.918gal(Always using 87 octane). So that is 44.736mpg or 45mpg. I always stop filling on first click and most of my driving is highway with about 90% highway and 10 percent city with 1 passenger(130lbs) half of the time. The following techniques were performed:
1. Cruise control locked at 50mph.
2. Slow Acceleration(shifting on or before 2k rpm).
3. Slow deceleration.
4. Driving with minimal braking except on stop signs.
5. Tire pressure for all four tires is 40psi.
6. Tire size is 195/50/R15(don't know if this help or if this hurts the mpg)
7. K&N air filter.

This is 75% freeway 25% city and driving 70-80mph on freeway
