Honda US Customs Problem
Hi all,
So I've been waiting for a month to get my 09 Honda Fit. Dealer (Planet Honda on Rt22 in NJ) says it should come in the last week of September, then first week of October. Now every time I call him, he says it should come in "the next day". For the last TWO WEEKS. Yesterday, I got a call from the dealership, that the Honda Fits they ordered are in the U.S.A, in a port somewhere, probably in NJ, but that Honda has a problem with U.S. Customs, and they (U.S. Customs) won't release the vehicles. After some yelling at him to give me me some firm date about when I should expect it to come, he says next Friday-Saturday, and that he's very sorry and it has never happened before.
So my question is, has anyone else heard about this 'Customs' problem, and is this legit or probably some B.S.?

lame
I might be totally off base but that sounds completely lame. Honda is about as anal about having it's "ducks in a row" as any car company. What? gas tank filled with pot? Emissions standards not met? give me a break. Your salesman is pulling your chain.
EDIT: I waited eight weeks for my fit. I wonder if the salesman is just making stuff up (what salesmen do) to cover for the situation. Since we've seen so many 09s why would a new batch get customs all riled up?

We've been getting our right on schedule. Many salespeople are unaware of hoe long it can tak a car from Japan to be transitted. Honda has there own port so they don't have many customs problems. There are delays due to trains and transports, but the dealer can track this.

Horsefeathers, and I can spell better. He's just trying to hold you off til his allotment comes in. Probably end of November.
Surely thou doest not mean bribes are involved? Thou must jest even considering Honda past relations with dealers.
