My Honda dealer gave me a tentative date...

My Honda dealer gave me a tentative date for the Fit to be in Ontario as late April. Sorry if this was brought up before, and note it is very tentative.

This may be great for me as my lease on my 2002 Civic SiR Hatch (Si in the US) will be over in May and I want another Honda but it must be at a good price and a hatchback.

I was also told that the Fit may be only $1500 less then the basic Civic 4 door and I'm hoping it is more then that.

Again, sorry if all of this is old news, I'm new here.

You're one up on me, as I've had two dealers tell me they know nothing about the Fit, but "wouldn't you like to test drive one of our Civics?" No thanks, unless you have a hatchback hidden back there.

My '92 Accord is still leaking tranny fluid, but it's still working. I think it will actually make it through the spring and Fit-buying time, as long as I keep fluid in it.

I was just at my favorite local Honda dealer for some servicing on my S2000 and the latest word on the Fit is April/May timeframe.

Base Civic is $16,980. So less $1500 is $15,480. The base Yaris is $13,580. I think the Fit barebones will be closer to the Yaris in price. $15,480 for a 3 door hatch barebones seems high. If that is the case, the Yaris looks a little better.

Can't wait till it's on dealer lots to see this freakin' car and to get a real price.

The base 4-door Yaris is $14,910, so that figure might not be far off. Honda's options (if they are priced like the Civic's) seem to be more expensive than Toyota's though; adding A/C would widen the gap to $1000 - $1500 again.

Four door, I assume you mean 5 door. I took the price of a 3 door Yaris, and not the 5 door. So I guess the 5 door is more, but it's to late to go look it up. Whatever, I just wana see this Fit with my own eyes. Waiting soooooo long now.

Seems the Fit comes with AIR, honda.com says about $13,000USD. The Air in the Yaris has to be about $1000+.

That will be good if true; the Fit would end up close to the same price of a similarly equipped Yaris. However, I was basing the numbers on the first poster's report, and I am not sure that A/C is included in the base price in Canada -- the Canadian press release (unlike the US one) doesn't mention it, and it is not the universal purchase here that it is in much of the US.

I wonder what the difference between DX and LX versions will be. There's not all that much separating the base from the sport other than the exterior trim.

Yes, point taken. I'd rather not have air and pocket the $1000+ it costs. Damn, only need it like 6 weeks of the year. Today it's -14c.

I like my A/C and hope it is standard in Canada. I just wish the would release the pricing on these.

Considering that to buy my leased 2002 Civic SiR would be $15,870 I don't know what the heck I will do. But I really want something with 4 doors.
