um why does everyone complain about the gas mileage??

 

Evidently 38mpg (US) is not good fuel economy for a non-hybrid, non-diesel car and it has been decreed that 40mpg (US) is the absolute minimal acceptable fuel economy for all new cars now.

Civic Hybrid in Australia is rated for 45mpg (US).

Dislikes:
Would like 17 inch rims....IMO
No Turn signals on the Fenders and Side Mirrors
No rear disk brakes
No HID’s
No CVT-7**
No arm rest with storage
No coolant temperature gauge, from what I can see in the pictures- Velociracer
109HP…Why not at least 120-140ish would hit the spot



I have never owned a Honda, but have driven an 06 Civic Sedan and liked it alot. The my next vehicle will either be a Honda Fit or Dodge Caliber.

 

Likes: too many to list, that's why I will buy it...

Dislikes:

Orange only available in Sport
Underbody kit/spoilers forced on me (since options I want are only available in Sport)
No driver's center armrest
Rear drum brakes
No coolant temperature gauge
No door guards/bumper guards (I'd prefer black, not body-colored, to avoid needing frequent paint jobs)

According to the specsheet, the Fit does come with a coolant temp gauge.

 

Actually it says - "Fuel and Coolant Temperature Indicators" which lead me to believe its a dummy light.

Temp gauges on modern cars aren't any better than a idiot light. Could just as easily be replaced with three lights: COLD, OK, HOT.

 

Yes, my understanding is it is indeed a cold/ok/hot led. It might be sufficient (and the rear drum brakes are probably sufficient as well), it's just that I'd prefer a gauge (and disc brakes).

 

M3 uses a more sophisticated light system where the red line shift as the engine comes up to temperature. Haven't seen such a system on other cars but I'm sure its used.

 

I was the one who started the no temp gage rumour. But thanks to DewaltDakota's donated hi res pictures, one can now see a dummy gage to the right of fuel, but LED and not needle design as far as I can see.

 

I would rather have a gauge just bacause I think you can catch it before it really over heats. Maybe thats not true, but hey, I like gauges. lol

 

I'm just pulling this out of my rear, but I think "American driving style" could be something like driving at a steady 85MPH for 11 hours...you know, the good ol american roadtrip.

 

...with about a thousand pounds of crap in the car.

1. New to the North American Honda line.
2. Same engine in both base model and sports.
3. Clean lines nothing to extreme.
4. 4 door.
5. Reasonable price.
6. Honda did not mess up, like i thought they would.

Dislikes:
1. No rear disc brakes.

 

Likes:

• It's a model previously available to the rest of the world, but not in NA, and now it is!
• 5AT with paddle shifters satisfies my geeky tech desires while allowing my wife to drive it without worrying about a clutch.
• Four-door hatch so I can get my kids in more easily than in a two-door.
• Great safety features.
• Better fuel economy than many cars.
• MP3/iPod compatibility.
• Magic Seats/lots of interior room.

Dislikes:

• No upgraded engine on the Sport level.
• Yellow not an option here.
• Steering wheel mounted audio controls would be nice.
• Rear discs would look nice, but the drums are probably fine.

Concerns:

• Will pricing be so high when options are added that it will be a toss-up as to whether the style of the Fit or the performance of a Civic (or even Civic Si) will win out?
• Will the full model change come out after this one has only been here a year or two and be vastly superior to this model?
• Will performance/appearance options be as extensive as I would like?
• Will the body color headlights look ok in person?

 

I totally agree. This point really has me on the fence.

As for sunroofs and AC, I have a 1992 Acura Integra GS-R as a toy, with a long list of upgrades. I frequently drive with the sunroof open and AC pumping. I've always had a thing for sunroofs, and even on sub 0C days, you can catch me with the sunroof open. Finding snow on my back seat in January/Febuary is a common occurance.

At least swapping rear disks will be simple. Installing a proper power sunroof won't be so easy.

 

I've seen the Fit in person - and all I can say about the headlights is think oldskool XKE!
