Having seen the JDM Fit in person when they were filming a commercial here in Miami about a year ago, I think I like the regular non-painted headlights better. Regardless I'm probably going to upgrade them to the Mugen HIDs anyways.

There are a few good things about the Jazz.

Very slick manual gearbox with a nice set of ratios.
Reasonable performance from 1.5 Vtec
Great economy (up to 58mpg on 95 octane in favourable conditions).
(Down to 35mpg towing a 500kg trailer at 110kmh)
Good grip from 185/55/15 v rated tyres.
Good interior room.
Good folding seats.
Relatively comfortable. (even in the back seat)

There are also a few bad things.

Dead and slow steering.
Choppy ride and nervous rear end over bumps.
Average ABS callibration for gravel roads.
Average stereo.
Bonnet prone to stone chips.
Hesitations from engine at low speed under load.
Unfinished look around the insde of the tail gate.
Bloody useless fog lights.

For this type of car, I'd rather do without a sunroof. The reasons are simple: more headroom inside the car and one less item to go mechanically wrong.

1. Versital interior.

3. 5yo design but still better than others.

Dislike:
1. Civic market replacement with less HP than old Civic.
2. Not enough HP.
3. Did I mention HP?
4. Who cares about MPG need more HP.

Most americans, are comming off of V6's and V8's and are used to putting $35 -$50 or more into their tank to fuel up. They are also used to the horsepower they get from said engines. I can live with a small 4cyl car that gets 25-29 mpg if its fast and fun to drive. That still beats my 12mpg for my Dodge and 17mpg for my Chevy.

The Fit's height is 60". If the seating position isn't too high, there's probably plenty of headroom.

Then again I'm not tall so I'm not worried.

Unless your name is Shaq, there's plenty of headroom, and they could take an inch away and still have plenty of room for people that like to wear funky hats.

Red face Driving style vs. economy

An "American driving style" can be defined as:
  1. Rapid and effortless acceleration from rest to speed limit from light to light,
  2. Reluctance to shift down for uphill grades, relying instead on engine torque.
American automotive engineers have taken this "driving style" under consideration when designing engines. They tend to emphasize torque over horsepower (for the most part) in their engine designs, and combine this with what the rest of the world would consider to be "overly aggressive" throttle tip-in. Therefore, a smaller displacement engine, being low on torque (and this includes our cherished Honda vtec) will necessitate quite a bit of thrashing in order not to be left behind by the pack. Normally, this is not so much of a problem if the relative distance between lights is greater rather than smaller. However, in most NA cities, this is not necessarily the case. Therefore, a larger than "normally" needed engine displacement would be a must. Ergo the comensurate loss in overall fuel economy.

Looks a lot better than the Yarii. I saw them for real the other day, and hideous, is not too strong a word, I think.

alrighty, i think i've found the first thing i don't like about the fit and it's not confirmed by myself as i haven't quite seena pic of it not being there, but i don't think there's an arm rest... i've come to rely on this thing for my patented one finger driving style.

my apologies for the terrible grammar but man, i want my damned arm rest.
*edit*
apparently a handful of you agree with me... it helps to read all posts before making your own...

No armrest, but that should be an easy aftermarket item. I installed one in my 1985 VW GTi. It was a pretty slick unit, slid fore and aft, and had a cupholder! That was over 20 years ago, man, I am getting old.

BKKJack, an armrest is an option for the Japanese market and should be available from the dealer if you have the part number. I have a pic in my gallery: https://www.fitfreak.net/gallery/alb...17/armrest.jpg
