Pick up the Dec 08 Car & Driver for a nice article about the HKS Turbo Fit. It is of course about our GD3, and they said this that I liked:

Tell me how a GE8 is faster than a HKS GD3? I'm really confused about that, I might write in to the magazine...

 

i have this issue too (i subscribe)
i'm not too surprised that the GE beat the HKS GD, they said that by the 1/4 mile the HKS was only 0.1 sec ahead of the stock GD

 

thats ridiculous! Why bother getting a turbo then if at WOT its only a tenth quicker in the quarter?

 

i really want to see that magazine...

It's gotta be... I know I saw a thread on here some guy with just the HKS running 14s at what, 97 mph?

 

GD3kamawanaB is running the HKS kit, but he has upgraded injectors, cat delete, running ~9psi and proper tuning.

The Fit that is in the mag probably just has the HKS kit bolted on, its still carb legal and really doesn't make that much power. I am surprised tho that the GE8 review is as good as it says it is tho... they need to check their numbers I think

 

C&D tested HKS sema vehicle running 5.8 pounds of boost, i believe that's it for power related stuff and prolly an exhaust. made 139 hp

 

this is a sad day for hks turbo kit owners, but the guy driving the test vehicle must have misshifted, i cant really see it being that slow

yeah either that or they were using the stock tires - no traction

 

weird...because C/D is NOTORIOUS for getting the fastest 0-60 times whenever they test cars.

just look at thier numbers for the ge...the last edmunds test said that the ge 5mt was slower the the gd version...which means it ran to 60 in more than 9 seconds.

and here they have the ge going FASTER than the gd? makes no sense.

and i know that the gd was only making 139, but still, that should put it ahead of a slightly heavier, ge8 with less torque and hp.
