Jazz Petrol Consumption

I purchased a brand new Jazz Sport and have noticed I am not getting anymore than 300 miles per tank? I dont thrash the car and normally drive pretty steady. I thought the Jazz can do 350 miles plus (Honda brochure stated a lot more). Is this a problem or does the new engine still need to settle down and adjust itself still? ive done just over 600 miles so far.

Fuel consumption on a brand new engine is not going to be the best. Give the engine a chance to break in and your mileage should get better.

Fuel economy didn't get good until after about 11,000km on mine and this is the same story from every other Jazz owner I've spoken with. Everything is worn in and loosened up by then. Transmission (CVT) feels better too.

Similar story with every other car or bike I've ever owned just that the break in time is different for different vehicles but its always alot more than the 1st few thousand kms.

On my Chinese Fit 1.5 vtec CVT I got a 7.2 L/100Km now at 9800 Km.

Just after the First 5000Km check, I assume after cleaning or changing filters I was down to 6.2 L/100Km.

I going to to the 10000 Km check and I will see wich result I will get.

Anyway far from the 5.1 delared by Honda

Unhappy

Hi, new member from (East Borneo), I just got my new jazz IDSI 1500 last mont, now about 1500 km.
The fuel consumption is about 10.5 km/l (24.7 mile/gal), mostly used in city, its really bad! and little disappointed for that.

cheers
brn

My Jazz is brand new. It´s only a 1,4 engine with 83 bhp and I easily get 500 km´s on every tank. Thats equals according to the onboard computer 6,2 Liters/100 km. I´m pretty satisfied with that.

So what made these differentiations? I usually use gasoline with 92 octanes.

Is there any jazz user in the Asian region experiencing this fuel consumption with the same engine spec of course?? (i-dsi 1500 cc), and how you handle it?.

Thanks

Ok, this week end I did the 10K Km check.

today I got these results

on a trip of 12 Km at 70-80 Km/h stable speed on highway the average consumption has been 4.7 L/100Km

on a 35 trip at 90-100 Km/h at stable speed on Highway the average consumption has been 5.3 L/100Km

this results are according the 5.1 L/100Km declared by Honda.

I will try in a mixed urban/highway trip to see the consumption that I guess will be something like 7 L/100Km.

Considering the performance of the engine, 109 Hp, I suppose it is a very good result!!

How did you measure these results, with the on board computer? I've yet to see a car with an accurate one.
