Help car issue...

Okay guys, I was driving home after a nice christmas eve dinner and out of no where my CEL came on so i thought that was weird, now my car is not reving pass 4k rpms. My car is fairly stock all i have is a short ram intake and an axle back exhaust?? What could the problem be. When i lightly place my foot on the gas the car will go through all the gears( i have a sport at) but when i try to floor it the car when it gets to 4k rpms it does not goes pass it but the needle starts bouncing as if it was bouncing off the rev limiter...Please help this car only has like 5k miles is pratically brand new.

Thanks in advance.
Ray.

What code is it throwing first?

I would first start checking your TPS, spark plugs and the dizzy. You could possibly have a bad coil or theres moisture building up some where around the dizzy. If those aren't the problem then it might be the ECU. Just find someone with an ECU like yours and switch to see if its the ECU.

There is no dizzy on our cars, it's a coil pack.

Yeah what code is it throwing? ur car is running in limp mode. It's a safety feature of the engine to protect it from damage. Check ur intake, maybe ur IAT sensor came lose or fell out. U can get ur code checked for free at kragen or pep boys. It will tell u exactly what is wrong. If u just want ur car fixed, disconnect the negative terminal for 5 minutes 2 reset the ECU (don't forget ur radio code, make sure u have it b4 u disconnect the battery). Then after u plug it back on, turn the car on and let it idle for 5 minutes 2 "relearn" the settings.

Thanx for all the help guys. I'm guessing the car was in limp mode, I disconnected the negative terminal like koolkevin said and and re-connected and then after turning on the car the CEL was no longer on and also the car would rev past 4k freely again. I just don't get y it could have gone into limp mode??
