Speaking of the Toyota Toaster. On that subcompactculture website i saw that 2011 Ford Fiesta? i thought it had a funny name. HAHA, probably the reincarnation of the Pinto. But I'm jealous that they might release the Swift in the US in 2010-11(because i have a car and will not be buying one). Suzuki Swifts always look so gangster in Option magazines

sounds like you guys are having a little "scion envy" the way you are all getting worked up over a little internet add..i have owned several hondas and toyotas...i just recently traded in my 08 bom fit sport for a 08 release xb and let me tell you the xb kicks all kind of fit ass....i know its not fit vs xd but the scion has more room, more power and a hell of a lot nicer interior that the fit had....the fit has to be the cheapest made car that honda has ever slapped a badge on. the old body style fit is awesome to look at but the new body style looks so crappy that i dont even like the old ones anymore. one more redesign and it will be a glorified mini-van.

 

the current gen xB is not a fair comparison to the Fit of either generation. we're comparing the Fit to the xD

the Fit is the cheapest made car that Honda's current line-up.. i don't quite know what you're trying to argue there.

i will agree with your statement about the GD chassis being awesome though ::thumbs-up::

 

than you my friend, are already driving a glorified mini-van. LOL. And the Fit just has so much more JDM/tuner appeal than the scions, whether they have JDM counterparts or not.

 

a friend of mine has an xd, it has more power, better gas mileage, more interior room, and higher quality materials were used on the interior. i like the looks of the first gen fit better than the xd but that dosent mean its a better car (which is what people are arguing).......when i said that the fit was "cheap" i wasnt talking about the price...its just a low quality compact car.



so where do you think the xb was made? france? jdm/tuner appeal? is that the main reason you buy a car? haha! if you think a new xb is a mini van then line that fit up beside one and try to outrun it. not to mention that the xb gets almost the same gas mileage that our fit did. i like fits or i would have never bought one but to say that they are better than a scion(toyota) is pretty stupid. you guys should be comparing your cars to domestic compacts if you are wanting to feel better about the quality of the fit.

 

I dunno, I love my Fit but I also trust the US News chart. There's a reason the Scions are so far down, mainly because of estimated reliability which is most important to me. Saying a Scion is good because it's a Toyota is like saying a Pontiac Vibe is good 'cause it's a Matrix to me.

so all three scions are in the top 25 and they are all priced less than a new fit? that is interesting news...say what you want but you buy a scion at a toyota dealer...as far as the vibe/matrix comparison there have been several cars over the years that have shared platforms...geo tracker/suzuki sidekick..eclipse/talon...metro/swift.....i have owned a first gen xb for years, after 70000 miles the only money i have spent on it is gas and oil changes. i traded an element for the fit i had and that was a big mistake. i would have kept the element but you cant open the back doors without opening the front (not good when you have kids).

in my earlier posts i noted that my lady-friend had just bought an xD 5spd the other week. i got lucky and she let me drive it the other day. here are my opinions on the xD (i'll try to be unbiased as possible):
• yes, the xD has more power than the Fit but just a slight advantage - if i wanted horsepower i would have kept my alltrac/gt-four.
• the xD does have more interior room, it's a bigger car all around.
• the materials used for interior of the xD is on par with the Fit, both made with cheap hard plastics and cloth from the discount bin at WallMart. my friend's xD didn't have a leather wrapped steering wheel - i don't know if there's a factory option for leather on the xD's steering wheel but mine came standard in the Fit Sport trim. my biggest gripe on the xD's interior is its ergonomics, WTF.. oddly placed knobs, switches, and gauges. i only drove her car for a few hours but i couldn't get used to anything besides the steering wheel in front of me. the Fit's interior sucks too but at least everything is in the right place.

the Fit is a low quality compact car compared to what? Honda's current fleet? or the compact car segment of the auto market in general? i'm going to have to conclude that this portion of your argument is all personal preference. i test drove all the cars within the same price range of a Fit Sport MT and concluded that the Fit was the best value overall; that was before considering the fun to drive factor of the Fit.

the Fit was a better car for ME, the xD wasn't.. Toyota made the xD to fill a demographic which, unfortunately for them, i am a part of. the xD lost and the Fit won.....

 

audi, bmw, and subaru had a similar ad war.. fun stuff, i'll post them up if i can find them

Scions are FAIL.

 

yeah i'm aware that they're sold as the Toyota bB and ist in japan but the Scions just dont cut it for me. I'm not bagging on them but as Charee stated, The Fit is just a better car for me. And the JDM factor of the fit is just a bonus. The Fit just appeals more in the tuner scene than a Scion does, maybe in the boost mobile scene? lol. but The Scions are just not a very fun platform with limited options. Sure a stock xB would beat a stock Fit. LOL. I'm not a fan of the center mounted gauge cluster either. To me the bB and ist are just another one of the mico machines running around tokyo. The Fit may not work for you but it works for me, and vise versa with the xB. But for the record, the previous retro-toaster xB imo is cooler than the current toaster.
