New 2009 long term evaluations
Hey FitFreakers,
One of my favorite blogs is the Edmunds long term road test blog. It's a lot of fun to read about what it is like to actually own various cars, how they travel on road tests, repair costs, etc. I noticed today that they have recently gotten a 2009 Honda Fit in their fleet.
Check it out at: Long-Term Road Tests Blog on Edmunds' Inside Line
Also, Autoweek magazine recently got an '09 Fit in their long term fleet as well. Honda must be giving them out like crazy, I guess it goes to show that they are really confident in the superiority of their product.

Thing is, the "editors" on that long term blog seem to be regular, "civilian" people out there as opposed to car enthusiasts. Proof is their constant reporting of the dropped EPA figures for fuel economy, for example. They seem to take the EPA ratings as bible. Meanwhile, it's pretty much known in our fitfreak community that the GEs get slightly better FE than the GD.
Then there's their beef with the look of the center stack w/o the Navi. First of all, they used a stripped base Fit with a not-so-good photo to compare to the Navi model. After living with my non-Navi Sport for over 5 months, I see the Navi dash and think it looks more like an afterthought, or aftermarket system retro-fitted in by comparison.
I would take that long term blog with a grain of salt only.
