I wouldn't call Honda's commitment of at least 30,000 Fits in 2006 "limited production". If thats what you think then congrats, you just shallowed your dealer's bullshit. By year's end, the Fit will be as common as a Civic, you will see one on every corner. Limited production are cars like the S2000, where only less than 10,000 are imported into the US market per model year.

Looks like many of you have put the Fit on a high pedastal, willing to pay and accept anything the dealer saids, even if its over MSRP. Over MSRP for a 6 year old b-segment car! That is just sad.

Well, it will probably be like that (I mean paying MSRP) for the first month or so. I think the profit margin will be much narrower on the fit than say the Pilot or Accord. People that buy in the first month will probably pay MSRP for the privilage.

I don't mind paying MSRP because after all... it is worth it. When I purchase things big or small I look only at the value it will bring to me. There is always that intuition factor, if you feel like you are being taken for a ride then you probably are. As long as people are happy with the value they are getting paying MSRP is okay. We waste money on so many other things and I just don't see what a few hundred dollars is, especially when paying that few hundred dollars saves you headaches, worry, and time. I am all for getting a bargain and haggleing for prices. Nonetheless, if I feel comfortable that I recieved a good value... than I am happy.

Manchester Honda seems to be MSRP - 200

If you check their web site. I'm not in Connecticut, and their site doesn't say they have any, but if you're close it might be worth checking.

Again, 30,000 is exactly what I would call limited shipments. Its not limited anything.

well, if the dealers can't keep them on the lot, they will be considered limited.

I still think most potential Fit buyers will drive away in a Civic.

After doing a lot of homework, visiting car lots and test driving vehicles, I decided the Fit is the right car for me. If I could wait until I could haggle the price, I would, but I need transportation now! Wagons are hard to find or too pricey, I don't want to join the ranks of SUV owners, especially those who are sweating at the gas pumps, and I don't want to plunk down thousands of dollars on the second biggest purchase next to a house when I'm not thrilled at the idea. I'm enthusastic about the Fit. Maybe the price will come down soon -- time will tell. In the past I've had fun making car salesmen work for their money; this time they've got the upper hand. I keep my cars until the engine dies and/or the wheels fall off. I'll pay full price this time around and enjoy my new car!
