Cargo space

With the rear seats down, can you reasonably put a road bicycle in the back? I have a Matrix and my road bike just barely fits (laying down with wheels on).

Thanks!

I've seen photos of bikes going right into the Fit, upright. The "tall" mode allows putting it straight in as is. I think it's the "utility" mode that allows you to lay the bike flat with the front wheel off. I have no doubt that I can easily attach my portable bike rack if I don't want to put the bike in the car.

With the wheels on, it will be vert tight. If you don't need the front passanger seat it might be possible. Why not take the front tire off, 99% of road bikes have quick release, no?

I am buying the car for the bike...not the bike for the car. The wheel comes off but then it is sliding around. Furthermore, lawyer bumps on the forks make it such that you still have to unscrew the quick-release. Not a big deal if you ride once a month but I ride every day.

It looks like the length from the hatch to the front seats is 68". I need about 61 so this may work.

Just take your bike to the dealer and test it out.
Don't assume everything will work for yah.
I bought 4 football players with me when I went to the dealer. Guess what? All fit well inside. Looks small but big inside.

4 guys, everage 6'-2".
Overall weight for all 4 guys = 950lbs

Maybe you could mount these to the back of the rear seats. Fold the seats down and viola. Another option would be to mount them in the rear footwells, depending on how often people sit back there, and how much the brackets would intrude on foot space, in/egress.

What truck gets 40 mpg? Wish they still made the VW truck with the diesel engine - or Honda could do something similar. The Ridgeline is better than most trucks but still a guzzler.

I agree, I looked into buying a truck, the mpg just isn't there.

For jbailout that 68" is measured with the front seats pushed all the way forward. I've asked some of the new owners in another thread to give us the usable size, so we may have an answer soon.

?

No one saw my post above with the bike standing up in the fit?

those are full size, 26 inch wheel bikes. I plan to do the same, I got the pic from a euro site.

The OP doesn't want to R/R the front wheel every time he loads/unloads it.

I wonder if the bike could lie on its side diagonally. Maybe with the front wheel turned.
