(old fit owner with new fit) some questions

Hey all, first time poster here. My turn onto the fit first came in 2007 when i bought my first Red honda fit. I still have it and the thing runs great, got it for about 9k (it was 1 month preowned with 3k miles on it) i thought it was a great price. However, over the course i regretted not getting a sport model, not having cruise control was a big downside.

So...2 years later i went out and bought an 09' storm silver fit. I don't get to pick it up until monday though . I think i got alot of useless addons but i think they are gonna be sweet (interior illumination for one).

The question(s) i have are.
I asked the dealer about adding the nav system to the car, as this is one of the things i wanted in the old fit. He said for the dealer to put it in it was about 2400$ , i thought that was ridiculous. I've been skimming through these forums and have seen that some people have put in AVIC-F90BT and i've heard great things. How hard is it to do this yourself, is it possible to buy another dash unit part to allow room for a nav system?
If i could spend about $1000 and have gps and audio i would be very happy. If you have any tips on this that would be great. Once upon a time i had a jeep liberty that had a nav system (worst thing ever!!) i couldn't listen to music because i always needed the nav dvd in to use the GPS so it was either GPS or music, i see some of these aftermarket gps's are the same way. Is there any that don't necessarily need a dvd/cd (maybe sd?) that i can listen to music and use the GPS.

Secondly, the guy scared me about the car alarm system. He told me that if the alarm is triggered in anyway, window breaking or someone trying to open the door while the alarm is one, that the car would then fail to start.
What were to happen if say i was driving, and a rock from another car broke the windshield, would i be able to start the car again or would i need speical assistance from honda?

I'm stoked to get the new FIT, i plan on keeping the old one as well but i think the new one will be more to my style. The impression i got in the 09' was that the seats were far more comfortable then the 07' (that just could be i was attracted to the new car smell, but idk). The dash area seemed to remind me of a honda civic (which i'm not a fan) and i think the GPS is a beautiful addon there. I do have a tomtom portable which i love, it does everything but having the ability to play cd, ipod and use the gps from one central location sounds inspiring.

I know this is a long post, its 2am here and i just can't stop reading about the new fit.

Thanks!

Congrats on the purchase. I'm guessing this time you bought a sport model? Manual or Automatic?

Answer to #2-
You won't be driving your car with the alarm system on. When you get in with the transmitter, you are turning the alarm system off. So in driving the car, a rock hitting a window isn't going to do anything but make noise or break glass. The car won't stop.

Well i picked up the car today, unfortunately the honda dealer messed up and forgot to put parts on the truck so some of the accessories i bought havn't gotten put on yet and i need to make another appointment.

At first glance i was just wowed, the dealer said "Hey watch this" and pressed two buttons on the remote and the car was on! If storm silver looks this good at night, i am so anxious to see it during the daylight.

First time driving:
Well one of the first things i noticed when getting in the car was that the doors were alot heavier, and the seats firmer. The car really feels like it is there to last forever. The ride is much smoother then the 07 fit, feels like i'm in a roller hockey rink (that could be becasue it is a new car. The powersteering feels very fluid.
I can't say that those little windows up by the front doors have gained any use but they sure look cool!

Anyone have any tricks for skipping through songs on the ipod? having to use the scroll wheel of the car to skip to song 999 can take forever.

Thanks, I love the 09' fit!

Well i brought it back to the dealer, after the guy told me yesterday it would take 1/2 hour to an hour to put the illumination kit in, it took 2 hours and 45 mins.

I'm a little disappointed that i need to have the headlights on in order to turn on the illumination kit, maybe there is a way i can fix that?

And i also orderd the black carbon fibre door pillars but they seem to think i ordered chrome ones (which i'm not even gonna try to argue with them anymore) and those still havn't come in yet so i have to call them back on friday. After that hopefully i'm done with the dealership
