I should like to see results for the newer North American Fit with the standard side airbags and larger engine.

As far as I know, testing for the NA Fit has not yet been done by either the DOT or IIHS. Watch the IIHS site here: http://www.iihs.org/ . They do the most comprehensive testing, I think.

I think the Fit will do well in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash testing because Honda's own safety test facility in Japan has gotten laudits from no less than the IIHS itself. After all, Honda used that test facility to develop the safety features of the current Honda Civic, a car that got the highest Gold certification for crash safety from the IIHS just recently.

The engine is only larger in displacement, not physical dimensions. However they will have to retest becuase of the larger front and a rear bumpers for the NA fit.
