Help ! Help ! for SRS and CHP issues
I bought a 2007 honda Fit sport AT with salvaged title. Just recently, I took my fit to California High Patrol for inspection, they told me I need to fix my airbag system.
Question 1. Perhaps, I don't even know did the previous owner fix the airbag or not, all i know is my horn is not working and driver airbag light is on. What parts do I need to pass the CHP and make the light off ?
Question 2. How much would that cost ? please break down as list. thank you.
Question 3. Is it ok to buy used airbag parts when CHP inspects ?
Need your help, appreciate it.

All things to think about when purchasing a 'salvage title' car. They're salvage title for a reason...
Truthfully, without a lot more detail as to what, exactly, is wrong with your car, I wouldn't expect much in the way of answers here. You need to ask the CHP/DMV about what is necessary to pass inspection. I, personally, would take it to a Honda dealership for inspection to find out what parts you need to get the system up and running properly.
Reminds me of an old Dilbert strip: "And sign here if you want your airbags to be filled with fresh mountain air instead of gravel."

Im in the same shoes, Just recently bought a Salvage Fit, and the air bag light was on, so the guy told me that it had been replaced but never got reseted on the main srs unit, so I took it to the Honda Dealer run a dignostic and the tech told me that the side curtain air bag was given the error code, so he said and suggested to replace the Main Srs unit, cause once and air bag blows the unit no longer works. and it can not be reprogramed thas what he said,, So I might end up getting a new unit,,, so my recomendation take it to a honda shop, and have em run a dignostic first

This is not a simple answer. CHP won't tell you whats needed, just fix it (as they should, its not their car)
There could be so many things wrong you'll have to take it to a dealer to have them do an estimate on repair that should list virtually every part needed. But only Honda dealers have the parts and you may get a good deal from Majestic Honda or some other online dealer for the parts list.
Since its salvage that means you bought it 'as is, where is' and that also could mean no insuror will insure the car. A salvage car has no indication of crash worthiness and thus is a higher risk. Even if the local agent doesn't know the home company will have it flafgged. There's no guarantee it won't get insurance but see if it can be BEFORE putting in all that air bag work. And I believe its illegal to sell used airbag parts.
Sorry but thats that. Salvage cars are great for racing though and who cares about the air bag then.

And if examination of the wreck shows tampered air bags you better have a good lawyer. Your opponents will not only be the state but likely your insurance company too.
There ain't no free lunch.
