This is just my opinion, but I think the Fit will be widely available once it arrives at the US dealers. As was posted elsewhere on this board, the only people scrambling to get a Fit will be the people here, a small number of Honda's customer base. Also, I think Honda would be crazy to put the Fit (which is being a marketed as an affordable car) out in limited numbers only to disappoint thousands of potential customers. If people can't get a Fit, they will get something similar from another car maker. There is just too much competition out here.

 

Funny thing this topic should come up again - I just spoke with an advertsing client of mine - an automotive group manager that happens to over see the Honda dealer where I'm buying my car from.
He says Honda is trying hard to avoid the backup on Fit orders that happened when new Civic first came out.
When asked to elbaborate all he said was that there should be a steady supply within a few months.
Also to note (straight from the horse's mouth) - Fit at current MSRP is the lowest profit percentage vehicle for both Honda and the dealer group in the US...

 

Well, I sent an e-mail to the internet sales manager of a large dealership (multiple locations) asking for a quote on a Fit Sport manual tranny saying I intended to buy immediately and attached a copy of my previous purchase, an '05 Ody in Dec '04 from them.

Haven't gotten a reply yet in 24 hours. I will be quite pleased to get one at MSRP.

 

I seriously think that the Fit will be a top seller and it may have a slight buck up on getting them at first but only for certain modles I think like the Sports Manual...
