Question Maintenance - Where can I get my maintanence other than the dealership?

Can someone recommend me a reputable autoshop where I can get my maintenance done for my FIT?

I bought my tires @ Costco so the rotation and balance is all covered. I called the dealership the other day and told them I do not want my tires to be rotated but they said they are still going to charge me for rotation and balance EVEN if i don't need to (all within the package).

My car requires the B1 service and I am just wondering if I can get the same service done @ some other autoshop for less the price. I live around Finch/Yonge area in Toronto btw.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You can get it done at your local oil change place, if you don't want to do it yourself. Just be sure to KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS. You can also buy all your filters online. I have been buying mine from H and A Accessories.
I am a paranoid I guess, but when I change my own oil, I not only keep my receipts, I also take photos, including a photo of the odometer. Maybe that's overdoing it, but hey, I have cameras around all the time anyhow.
Bottom line is, if you're still under warranty, you just need to maintain proof that the maintenance was done. It doesn't have to be done by a dealership.

Best to you.

P.S. Costco is a fine place to buy tires! I got mine there when the original Dunlops wore out. Bought BFG Traction T/A's, and they are SO much quieter and longer-lasting.

I just don't know if these additional checks under B1 (see below, got it from another website) are absolutely mandatory. Can autoshops perform these additional checks on top of the oil & filter change?

The number 1 is to rotate tires.
The maintenance minder B is for below.
Replace engine oil*1 and oil filter
Inspect front and rear brakes
Check parking brake adjustment
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots
Inspect suspension components
Inspect driveshaft boots
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
Inspect exhaust system#
Inspect fuel lines and connections#

I just got my B1 service done this morning, and only paid $49.99 at my local Honda dealership. They did everything mentioned above and also included rotating and balancing all four tires. They also adjusted the valves as they were said to be getting noisy. I didn't think they were loud, but I'm nowhere near a trained mechanic so I figured sure what the heck. I checked the maintenance booklet and bang there it was. They even washed her to boot!!!

Your own garage/driveway/parking spot should be fine. They don't do anything you can't do.

You just ruined your paint. I can't stress this enough guys NEVER let the dealership wash your car. I've detailed tons of cars that have come to me after having their car washed by the dealership. One guy instructed the dealership not to wash his car, they did anyways and swirled the crap out of his paint. I detailed it for him and they reimbursed him after I showed them condition they made his paint. This was on a 2009 car.

I visited my local honda dealership to see what they used to wash cars. They had one bucket, a sponge ON THE FLOOR and a bunch of used dirty rags. Not to mention dish soap which strips your car of all the wax and protectants. They have no idea what they're doing when it comes to washing cars.

As for the maintenance, I would just do it yourself and save the receipts. They list all of those inspections to make it seem like they're doing a lot of work and to convince you that you can't do it yourself so that you can give them money. Just do your oil changes at 5000 miles and check all your other fluids at least once a month and you'll be ok.

FWIW I took my car home with the plastic on it and did my own pre delivery detail. Haven't taken it back to the dealer ever since, not even for my free oil change. After they washed my black S2000 after I put a huge "do not wash" sign on the steering wheel. I spent 14 hours trying to get my paint back to perfect condition. Sorry I'm kinda ranting :/

^^ HAHAHA well, if he/she wants to get the service done at a dealership,
i dont think they REALLY care about their cars as much as we do.

unless it was for warranty work.

Unfortunately he was taking delivery of the car and asked them not to wash it before hand. They said ok but then later on they told him that they had to wash the car because its part of the pre delivery checklist. Even worse his car was black so it looked horrible. My dealership tried telling me the same thing but I told them if they wash it I'm not buying it.

Lol man those things are horrible, might as well use a broom. They just want the easies, fastest and cheapest way to get you in and out of there. Plus think of all the cars they've washed that day with that one brush. All the dirt from all the dirty wheels and tires that are being transferred onto your paint. All the times they set the brush down on the floor while it picks up rocks and dirt. Makes me cringe...
