Am I going to be dissapointed?
Am I going to be dissapointed?
It seems I can't get enough information about this car. I read every new review and all the forums I can find. I've seen nothing that points me in any direction other than the dealership. Am I getting snowed by some black helicopter type media marketing or is this the real deal?
Anyone else in my boat?

Anyone would have second thoughts about something that they haven't seen yet. I'm worried that it will too small (on the outside), no matter how much room it has inside.
I am pleased about all the good press but I'm also concerned about the lack of knowledge about the Fit. Honda will be launching a $50 million dollar add campaign soon and for me, it can't be soon enough. Nobody even knows what the Fit is except a few of us that have found it under the radar.
I will be one of the first in the country to own a Fit. But I will not know if I have purchased a popular car or a flash in the pan for several months. I feel like I’m investing in some new stock, if I’m right I will brake ground for others, if I’m wrong, I’ll feel like I’m about to get run over by a big gas sucking SUV.

My question was more in regards to how the car drives. I've loved Honda products since I had my first drive in a 87 crx si. The power delivery was infectious. I had a 94 integra GSR that had fantastic steering and shifting right from the factory. I have owned a cx hatchback (95) and lx (93) and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed them all. Is the hype on this car saying that they've improved on the civic platform or is this just the (smart kid on the short bus) best in its category?
So to anyone who has actually driven this car, is it a car that causes you to grin when you go throught the gears?
BTW at the MN auto show I was able to sit in one for an hour or so. I do like the interior and exterior.

I've driven many Hondas/Acuras. The Fit continued the progressive improvement on the things we expect from Honda. If you were comforable in the Fit, you should be comfortable driving it. It doesn't have the acceleration of a GS-R, but is sure was peppier than a 88-00 base Civic, and damn close to the feel of the D series Si/EX during those years.
i wish for more info
yes, i am also discouraged that there hasnt been more "front-loading" advertisements for the fit.
i have been researching it since about 10.05....so long i cant even remember how i first heard of it!
there is such little info, that in this time i've gone from 99% sure that i am buying it as soon as it's available here, to now i might by the 07 dodge caliber!
i keep waiting to test drive the fit, but i loved the caliber, and my old subaru died about 3 weeks ago. i really dont have alot of patience at this point for something sight unseen. I NEED A CAR!
i never thought that i'd actually request ads and commercials for any product, but here i am!

there are good amount of test drive review articles about the fit, and all of those are very good review...and the fact that this vehicle has been out for several years in asia and europe as a hot seller, why are we worried??

You are on the fence for a Fit or a Dodge Caliber? How long do you plan on keeping your next car, and do you enjoy visiting your dealer? I'd be surprised if the Caliber is more reliable than other Dodge products.
Thanks for the reassurance b17. For those interested in the Caliber, I was too, until I actually sat in one. The driver has a fairly large door sill to step over and the rear seat space and comfort are nowhere near the honda's. I sat in both within 5 minutes of each other. I was actually pulling for chrysler on this one.....they've missed the mark.
The latest Car and Driver compares 7 vehicles, including the Fit, and it won hands down in all categories. "Fun to drive" has been a repeating comment in many articles. The C&D testers were impressed and surprised at the Fit's 1/4 mile acceleration. So much for the NY Times article that claimed the Yaris's interior was better -- the Fit won that one, too. I was worried that the Fit would be a noisy ride. Honda improved on that, too. It is definitely an advantage to buy a car that has already been on the market in other countries for awhile. I've seen plenty of articles on the Fit. The praise has been glowing and the criticisms minor.
Google alerted me to a recent article -- the earlier claims that the Nissan Versa had better gas mileage than the Fit has been revoked by Nissan itself:
"In a short-but-sweet press release Nissan announced that it is revising downward the estimated EPA combined city/highway gas mileage for its Xtronic CVT-equipped Versa sub-compact. The original estimate was 38 mpg, which has now fallen to 33 mpg. Nissan offered no explanation for the adjustment. All Versa models are powered by a 122-hp, 1.8L four-cylinder engine."
