Coilover Durability in Northern Climates?

To anyone who lives in a Northern Climate with traditional winter months consisting of snow and salted roads. How do coil-over threads hold up over winter(s.) for the daily commuter. I won't be adjusting in the winter, but what about the following months, and years there after. Are there any horror stories?

For those who have done work to our cars and have seen residue of road grime, miscellaneous debris and salt take set in the most inconspicous parts of the underbody and chasis...,how do the coil-over system threads hold up after a couple of years.

I don't want to invest in friggin easily rusted threading perches. What maintenance chores do I have to do? Do I then invest in the oil-based undercarriage/chasis gooky undercoating, do I take a can of RustCheck, Lithium grease or something else.

I've yet to hear of longterm durabilty reports, so if anyone has a friend of a friend of a friend of a buddy who has a story, please share.

Aluminium coilover body will survive better than steel. The important part is to clean the grooves before adjusting them, so they won't jam.
