Ratatat

My Uncle owns a Fit and is in love with it, we swap discussions of our love and labor on our vehicles. He is currently stumped. He has a rattle in his steering column plastic and in the glove box. It only seems to rattle when the car is cold, it disappears when it warms. Any ideas? It is brand new!

Get out of town! Man they never come here. Where are they going to be? I was listening to "Wild Cat" on the way to work this morning.

from what i've heard this is a common problem amongst all fits,
i believe in DIY theres a guide to fix the rattle in the doors when cold, haven't yet heard specifically of the steering column rattling.

Check the lower dash panel under the steering column. There are 1 or 2 prongs that are supposed to fit into a slot. When I picked up mine they weren't in the slots. So I simply took the panel out and put it back on correctly.

As for the glove box, it's most likely the latch mechanism. I had to have the box replaced, but since then, no more glove box rattle. I still have a couple of other rattles or noises I'm trying to figure out.

Sadly, our Fits are like most other new Hondas...they rattle a lot due to expansive plastic use.

Cheap car, not much thought put into rattling. Some of the rattles you can fix but not all can be found. And if you bring it to the dealer with a complaint you know when they take a ride in the car they wont hear the rattles.

Rattles

Dash rattles and passenger side door/window rattles are seemingly a common problem with the Fit. Mine doesn't rattle unless its cold weather. Weird, I dunno. Thankfully, we have short winters here.
I had read others comments on the board that mentioned some of these rattles and thought my Fit was going to be an exception...Until one freezing cold November morning on the way to work, out of nowhere the dash rattle starts, then the passenger side window rattle. Also my back license plate rattles and I can hear it when I don't have the radio on which drives me nuts. I'm going to fix that one though, soon.

Search for a thread on the glove box; it's an easy fix with a piece of foam.
