Congrats as well! I'm 33 and bought the Fit as we'll soon be having our first baby. I needed a non-gas guzzler that can still fit lots of nursery furniture, child accessories, etc. That being said, it's way cooler than cars I had when I was young and image-conscious (Plymouth Horizon and Chevy Cavaliers).

It's a cool little car, and i can haul my son or a bike pretty easily. I've owned (and really enjoyed) a lot of VWs, and just got sick of maintenance issues and poor gas mileage. Granted, i was buying used cars with big engines, but the Fit is great for what our family needs right now. Plus, it's still a lot of fun!

Engine size doesn't really matter: VWs are *always* expensive and difficult to fix. My '01 Beetle gets decent gas mileage (26-28 city, up to 34 highway, 5-speed MT), but it looks like the later generation was revised to the 20-city rating that everything else in their lineup gets.

It's also a pain driving 50 miles when it has to go to the dealership, since the local one closed in the early 90s.

The thing I'll miss about the bug is the headroom. Being in the center of a bubble is nice.

I traded in a beat up '97 Jetta GLX for the Fit, and it's a much better car. The Jetta was cool, and had leather interior, the VR6 engine that i still love, and lots of nice little features. But, it had 102,000 and was starting to need a lot of money to keep running. I miss being able to accelerate so quickly, but i don't need that.
One thing i've really noticed about the Fit is the headroom! I'm 6'3" and have a ton of headroom in there. I do wish it had a sunroof though.

We still drive a 2002 Passat GLX Wagon, and i love it.

I'm 50- glad to see I'm not the oldest one on here!
Traded a Mazda Protege 5 (yeah, I'm into hatches..)
Went with the Fit because of the fuel milage (gas is not going to stay around $2.00/gal forever)+ I like the paddle shift. Had to give up on driving a manual, the left knee was not happy with pushing the clutch pedal anymore!
This is actually my sixth car I have owned:
66 Mustang
84 Cavalier (The BIG Mistake--I will never buy GM again!)
89 Corolla
96 Corolla
2003 Protege 5
all manuals until now-----
And now-The Fit is Go!!!

There is nothing macho about the fit. Some people like to fly fish (manual). Others like to deep sea fish (automatic).
Personally, the fit engineers designed the fit for people that like to feel their car. Otherwise, they would have softer suspension, less engine noise, crappy shifter, and more mpg. If you look carefully, the driver's seat is practically in the middle of the car. The engineers could care less about the comfort of rear passengers.

Anyhow I feel 16 when behind the wheel Fitting about.

800km in the week and half I have had it. It makes a great hauler for my Slot cars.

I'm 25 years old!!

Bought the Fit because of (then...) ever rising gas prices just like a lot of other people! Fun to drive but it doesn't have 170Whp like my neon had... The problem with the Neon is it was getting older and started to have reliability issues at 200 000 something km of abused driving so i had to seek for a replacement... I Miss my Koni Yellow adjustable shocks...

Anyway god created tuning so...

In the past i've had (In order)...
-87 Plymouth Reliant!
-92 Dodge Spirit R\T!
-1998 Dodge Neon DOHC!
-1995 Dodge Neon SOHC!
-1999 Dodge Neon R\T!
-1993 Honda Civic DX (Had reccuring Head Gaskets woes!)
-1995 Mazda 626 V6 Stick! (Dad's current car, 340 000km and counting!)
-1997 Dodge Neon DOHC (Bro's currect car, must have something like 220 000km now... still abused, still kicks unsuspecting ass!)
-2008 Honda Fit Base A\T (5l\100km hwy... City... must be 7 or 8... ...)

As you can see i'm kind of a Mopar guy... :P

Marko!!

i'm 23 and i have a 2008 MT GD3. i bought it when gas was almost $5.00/gal in CA. i love this car! it has everything that i need, like fuel economy, cargo space, people space, and most of all....... fun to drive. not as fun as my Datsun '78 280Z though.

My car list in order:
-'85 Nissan Maxima (AT)
-'88 Toyota Tercel (MT)
-'89 Toyota Pickup Truck (MT)
-'78 Datsun 280Z (MT)
-'93 Toyota Ceres (AT) stationed in Japan
-'93 Honda Prelude (MT) stationed in Japan
and now i have the Fit. I miss the 280Z and my Prelude!!!!

hey i was wondering if i could get some feedback

my parents are looking into the fit (due to my convincing). i personally don't know anybody over 40+ driving the fit, however, i'm just curious in regards to what kind of reactions they (my parents) might get from their friends and such. they're concerned that this cars' appearance is too targeted towards young kids (such as myself) and not for their 'crowd' -- yet the dilemma is that this fit is the ultimate DD for them providing great space, safety, and reliability

thanks in advanced!

Not to come across as offensive, but why would your parents (or any1 else) care about what others think about their own car w/c is purchased by their own money? It just seems unsound to base a major purchase on other people's reaction. My friends & parents are all against my Fit purchase. It even made me want the car more

I saw 3 "older" drivers for every "young" drivers. I took tally last month, total of 23 Fit sightings. I waved to every1 of them. Got a wave back from a college guy and a smile from a girl. 40+ drivers seem to ignore me. I even think that they stiffen up and concentrate more driving ahead

me---> 28 yr old male
