Complications and frustration

Alrite im basically going to vent but here it goes.

When I was putting on my tanabe springs the axle fell out of the cv joint. Took about a day to get an uncles friend to pop it back in the front of the car was on springs and the back was stock. My father after all the frustration said take it to a shop and have them take the springs off and keep the suspension stock.

Upon picking it up from the shop that put the springs back on not only was the ABS light on but there was a clunking coming from the right side.

I brought it to honda for them to tell me nothing will be under warranty (i did not inform them anyone touched the car) and that they need to replace the right front axle. $1500 later I got pick the car up only take make a few towns over and I could not get the car in park.

I brought it back to honda for them to tell me SOMEONE left the dust cover off of I guess the joint and it stretched the shifter cable. They inform me this will be another $700. They need to replace the half shaft AND the shifter cable. I feel like this should be done for free since they had to of done the damages replacing the right axle because it was fine until I dropped it off there.

They have had my car for almost a week and a half now for the woman to call me and tell me that the shifter cable is on back order and that it wont be in until the 11th. I have been with out my car for so much time already i've missed work and school and this dealership is not helpful at all.

Not only have i lost $3000 during all this im not making any money as I have no transportation to work and all this frustration is just sick and tiring.

Thanks for letting me vent anyone have suggestions on how to deal with the dealership. They just keep running the bill up...

Just heard from the dealership and now after some of my bitching and moaning they said they might cover the half shaft under warranty AND that the half shaft might fix the shifter cable problem and we wont need to replace that part.

Good for you for complaining to them and standing up for yourself. If they admitted that someone there left the dust cover off, then they should certaintly cover the cost of repairs after that. I don't think them paying half is enough, but at least it's something.

They would for me after I got done with them! They admitted the second failure was due to negligence on their part (in as many words) Everything they do after that is on their dime, period. Oh, and never, but I mean, never take your car to the dealer for repairs. At the very least get them to give you a written estimate, then go get a second opinion. It takes time to get that second opinion, but after being butt-hurt by the dealer to the tune of three grand, i think you'll find the time. I feel badly for you about the whole sorry mess, hope it all works out OK in the end.

This is why I NEVER let the dealership even perform the simplest of tasks on my car.

Good luck getting everything sorted out
