Question Cleaning products

Hi everyone, been reading the forums here for a couple of weeks now, and I've seen some real good inputs and infos. One question I have not seen pop up is, how often do you clean your Fit? What kind of wax do you use? What sort of products do you use?

I have waxed my previous accord before, and have ran into the problem of the wax getting on to the chrome and rubber parts. It leaves the rubber parts white and I have not been able to get it off. I'm scared to wax my Fit now (it's a white one, just got it on Tues )

Are there different products you use on the chrome parts to keep it's shine? to keep the rubber parts black? to keep the windows streak free, lint free?

Thank you in advance

Being a Certified Detailer, I dont reccomend detailing your car but once a month. Your paint is only but so thick. The best wax that I have ever used is called S-100, I found it at a local Harley dealership here in VA. No wax residue, easy on/off.

I will be using Klasse AIO and Sealeant, nice protection and shines, and finish up with P21S Carnauba wax, that will give you extreme wet look shine and protection of acrylic sealant....but can't do it yet, got to give the new paint time to set...can't wait...

I did a lot of research on this a few years ago and I concluded that Zaino Bros. products were about the best. Unfortunately they can only be purchased by phone or internet in most places (some areas have retail distributors).

They have extensive how-to information on their site, and a few things I learned was using high quality cotton towels (cannon, Fieldcrest) to wash your car (high quality cotton towels are extremely soft, and dirt particles are caught up in the 'pile' of the towel rather than being dragged across the surface).

Another great idea I learned from them is to use a leaf blower to dry your car rather than using a towel, or even a chamois. Anything you drag across the surface will put fine scratches in the paint. I much prefer using the leaf blower when washing my car during the winter months because you can blow the water off while wearing gloves. If you are using a towel or chamois, your hands are exposed to the cold temperature, and the cold water you are removing from the surface of the car, not to mention having to wring the towel out frequently.

Leaf blowers are inexpensive and can be purchased for around $50.

Holy shit, I just found an excuse to buy a leaf blower, since I only have 3 trees in my yard.

I totally agree.

I use the same wax/sealant combo on my S2000. It is easy to apply and easy to wipe off. The shine and protection last for a very long time.

Would you believe I got one in Jan. after seeing a guy using one at the GM
dealer in Selkirk to blow off snow. Didn't realize he was using a gas-powered one and got a 12V. LOL
(Lot of snow on a 1985 Olds Delta 88!)

Now I have another use for it during the winter at the car wash.

Nila, For the white wax stains on your rubber trim parts, I've heard that some people use Peanut Butter...
I've never tried that, but I have used a product call "Back to Black" (maybe by Mothers?) that works real well on black rubber trim. You should be able to find it in an Auto Parts Store.

Starting next week we'll be adding Shining Monkey to our product line up of aftermart parts and accessories, i've heard nothing but good review from users of their profucts, thus the reason why we decided to carry it ourselve's, adn depending on how good it is, it'll become my new car detailing product.
