Yeah, that's one thing that's started to bother me as well...
Basically, it's just a block of wood and some double sided sticky tape.
Put that under the carpet and screw the dead pedal into the wood.

Interesting workaround for one.
Sounds far less damaging than bolting one down onto your floor.
I never use the dead pedal in cars, so I'm not missing it. I tend to draw my left leg closer to me when I'm cruising.
