Fit Base, automatic, northern CA, price check

I am in the market for a Fit, Base, Automatic trying to trade in my clunker in northern CA. Was offered one for $15200 (including destination, documentation fee, excluding dmv fees and sales tax) and I counter offered with $14800 (based on some prices discussed here) and dealer did not budge so I walked. Should I keep looking at other dealers or should I increase the price? If I increase, by how much? Any recent experiences? Guy selling said that he could not go lower because I was trading in a clunker which is probably illegal but I am guessing that the cash-for-clunkers program is creating a temporary spike in buyers driving up the price.

I'm in NY and paid 12 something for an 07 Sport AT with 52K on it. Don't know if that helps or not. It was below book value and about 4K off the price of a new one for that year.
