Comfort

Lets hear some discussion on the comfort of the fit. I have not sat in it yet.

I think all of the seats are great. Hold you in place in hard turning, feel great driving it on the highway and in town, & people seem to get good sleep on small road trips in the back in sleep mode while I'm breaking this motor in...

Comfort depends on how tall you are. At 6'2", I still have 3" of headroom. The seat back is OK, but the seat cushion is too short for me and doesn't have sufficient padding at the front to support my thigh. This loads all the weight of my leg on my heel, which will become painful after a few hours driving. If the seat front could be tilted upwards, it would help. I don't know why they omitted this. I'll have to try shimming up the front of the seat mount, or continue to use the small pad I have for under my leg. Otherwise it's a roomy and very versatile car. I think with all that headroom, the seat could have been made a tad taller. All this is probably of no concern to anyone shorter than me.

The seats really don't have any lateral support, but its not a sportscar, so its not that big of a deal. Other than that its comfortable.

For me, seats feel just great, but what I'm finding is I can't find a comfortable driving position -- if I set the seat so that the gas/brake are comfortable, I have to stretch somewhat to fully depress the clutch and I'm too far from the wheel. If I set it so the clutch can be easily depressed, the gas/brake are too close and my right ankle starts to get sore, and accurate shifting gets a bit difficult. If I compromise, then neither feel 100% comfortable and it's really driving me nuts. What I wish is that I could adjust the gas/brake so that they're about 1-2" closer to the firewall. I don't think it would be impossible as the gas has tons of travel after reaching WOT, and the brake too. Anyone know if this is possible? Anyway, I love the car in every other way, just wish I could be more comfortable so I can enjoy driving it.

BTW-I'm 5'10", in case anyone cares.

hey hey...i think the lower back cushion-y part of the seat is SUPER comfy. after eight years of driving a jeep the fit seats feel like marshmallows. i wish there was a height option - am only 5'0'' - but i'm able to make do. my boyfriend - 5'10" - likes the lower portion of the seats a lot. he used to hate the jeep seats as they were shallow and didn't support his legs so well on longer trips. we never fight...but it's looking like we may have to work out a driving schedule! (she's mine, dammit! only kidding, dear...)

At 4' 11'', I like the fact that I sit up higher in the Fit than my previous two Civics. The only problem I have noticed is that I have to put my seat so far forward, my knee hits the dash sometimes. Unfortunately, being so short, I'm used to it.

dammit scub, you really burst my bubble. at 6'2" i can never get enough leg support and it bugs me. now it looks like i won't in this car either. i'l still test drive it but i have a feeling i might have to go with a used matrix to get the comfort i need after 10 years in a corolla that i think might actually have caused my chronic knee condition.

Have you actually consider purchasing the car you like/enjoy but swap the seat out? I did that with a Toyota Truck. I love the truck and hate the seat. I spent over $700 on the seat. But in the Fit case, you will loose some the "magic" configurations.

swap out seats huh? who does one go to to install such a thing? in the case of the fit, i fear it might interfere with the airbags or be a warranty problem but i might just be too cautious. any tuners in the room who have already done this to their fits?

Well for me it's a bit different. I drive with my Feet, one foot on the wheel and the other on the gas/brake. When I test drove the fit, I thought it had more leg room than my 88 5L Mustang. Plus the seats will be better for support when going around corners.

I was just looking for a small car that I can drive. And I've always wanted a Honda Hatch. I'm glad this one Fit... punn intended.

Oh and I'm 5'10, If that matters.

For us long leggers, 36"+, it's not the best for cross country driving. But gobs of headroom. Telescoping wheel would help but its' such a minor gripe versus the fun and value quotient. Highway stretches: Simply slide and recline the seat back and set the cruise control.

5'10" and it's comfortable enough. Nothing great, nothing awful. The lower back support could be better but it's a $15k vehicle and all I expect is decent comfort.
