Of Fits, WeatherTechs, and life in general
Of Fits, WeatherTechs, and life in general
Let me start out by saying,
I am looking for NO SYMPATHY.
Just a strange story about life.
So, the day I'm picking up my Fit, on C4C deal, I get a call at work, from the one person in the company I work for, who really runs the company, asking if I can change my vacation, which I am taking in two weeks.
Now, I haven't taken a full week off since I started for this company about 6 years ago. I get paid for unused vacation at the end of the year, and I'm a greedy SOB, so, no vacations, I'll take the cash, by my choice.
See, not asking for sympathy, the stupid decisions I make are all mine
.
Another company may be buying our location here in Columbus, and they want to talk to me about staying on. If I am going out of town, which I was, not to worry about it, go ahead and take my vacation.
Now, I work for a company that supplies the remodeling/construction trades. This year has sucked, saleswise. I asked pointblank, "if they don't buy our location, are you going to close us in November, when the lease on our warehouse/showroom is up?".
The answer is, we will either close your location in November, or hire a sales manager in November. OK, so I consumate the deal on the Fit, that day, figuring I have at least 3 months to be looking for another job.
So I get the Fit, I love it, great car, such a fantastic change from the F150 I have been driving for the past 17 years. I order the WeatherTech DF mats for it.
So I go on vakay, damn mats don't show up, even though I ordered them 8 days before I left, and I'm going to a sandy beach type area, and they'd come in handy.
Get there Friday at midnight. Short version, TOO LATE for a short version, Monday, at about 10am, I get a call from the one other person I work with in Columbus, telling me that our location is closing as of Friday, this week.
MotherF'er lied to me about November. NICE!
Now when I got the call Monday morning, I was on the first hole of a disc golf course with a friend and his kid. So we play the course, I mean, why not, I'm there, nothing I can do about it, might as well play the round.
Thinking though, if I'm losing my job, when I get back to the house we are staying at after the round, I'll check online, and if the WeatherTechs haven't shipped, cancel them, and have them recredit my credit card.
So, I get back to the house we're staying at, and of course, they shipped, finally, Monday morning, while we were disc golfing.
So my girlfriend and I cut vacation short, drive back on Tuesday, and I'm at work today. I'll get paid for any unused vacation time, so why not come back to work, and get as much $$$ out of the company as I can.
The fortunate part is, customers appreciate what I've done for them so much in the past, I have several job offers already, including from the company that was going to buy us out, but isn't now, but still wants me to come work for them.
So I'll be ok, I guess.
And the WeatherTechs showed up today, FINALLY!
Damn good set of floormats, I'll give 'em that. Too bad they didn't show up BEFORE I got sand all over the front footwells of my FIT
Sorry for the rambling, just hope nobody else that did a C4C winds up in a similar situation. I'll be ok, I guess, and not have to worry about losing my Fit!
And if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm PUI.
posting under the influence. It's been a long day.
And I guess I need to change my sig, I'll do that later

Ahh.. yup that is why I put the generic floormats in that family had as extra... in both the front and the back... I've also used them to cover the trunk/back of seats when carrying stuff...
next I'm going to go get generic aftermarket carseats.. better to have something than nothing to protect things..
well, at least you're still rolling..
