Will my son fit in a Fit?

Wow - looks like I may be the only old fart "family guy" in this entire forum.

Anyway, we're shopping for a new Fit and we haven't been able to get out and test drive one yet, but one important consideration is whether our family of four will actually "fit" in the Fit!

My older son, who is a lanky 5'11" 15-year-old will occasionally have to sit in the BACK seat when the family is all together. Any Fit owners out there who have experience with tallish back seat passengers?

I have a daughter that is 5'10", and she has no problem whatsoever. She said that there was more room in the Fit than about anything that she had been in.

If he's the only one in there, put him in the passenger side, rear, and put the driver side rear in tall-mode. He'll have tons of room to stretch out!!!

I have no children yet but I have friends and my 6 foot tall buddy went camping with me and my fiancee and he had to sit in the back. He had plenty of room and was comfotable for an hour+ ride there and back.
I think your son should fit fine.

I've had a 6 footer+ @230lbs and a 225 pounder in the back at the same time, and all was fine. I could feel the load on the car, but they fit in the Fit.

Unfortunately for him, he has to sit next to his little brother (who's 11 and will fit in anything).

We're downsizing from a Chrysler T&C minivan and we're worried about giving up all the room. On the other hand, we're thrilled at the prospect of doubling our gas mileage.

Thanks for the quick response

I am 6'1 and can sit in the back seat fine. Still headroom. I am not going to stretch out and suggest we drive long distance-It is a sub-compact with unusual headroom.

There's more room in the back seat of the Fit than there is in the Civic.

My husband is 6'7", not that he'll ever be in the back seat, but he did say it was roomier than a Civic. I don't think he could sit back there for hours, but for short trips, sure.

WOW!

Thanks to everybody for the quick replies. Now all we have to do is find one to test drive.

the backk seat has more room than other cars one would consider as "large". Your son will find no problem sitting in the back seat. By the way, I´m 5´10 and I have no problem sitting in the front, nor in the back seat.

He should fit reasonably okay; it will all depend on how tall the driver and passengers are and how far they push their seats back. I'm assuming a wife will be in the passenger seat, so I would make him sit in the rear passenger side seat.

I had 2 in the backseat yesterday one was 6-2 the othe 5-11 both were very comfortable on the 2 hour ride and the car absolutely did not mind the extra weight.

It's misleadingly comfortable. The whole car is like a trick to the eye. It looks small... but its very roomy.

If you're +/- 6', you'll be fine for road trips....just remember to stop off and smell the roses every now and then. Even for front passengers, you should get out and stretch your legs.....blood clots, anyone?

It looks like we'll have no problems with the head room, but what about the leg room?

I'm 5'10 185 lbs the first thing I did today before buying my new fit was to see if I fit in the back. I fit better than I did in my 2001 nissan sentra (sunny if you are from out of the us)

I have more room in the back of the Fit than in an Accord. In the Accord I have to sit with my chin on my chest so my head fits. The Fit has plenty of headroom. The Accord has a little more knee room, but you cannot tuck your feet under the seet - very nice.
