new to forums/question to owners

Hello all,
I'm new to these forums and just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to be a Fit owner soon once the '10's are released. I am a loyal honda driver and my previous cars include an 95 and 00 si, and 01 type r... why the Fit? well, there comes a time in everyone's life where you gotta grow up....jk. I need a four door, and I love my hatchback and hondas, so this seems like a good "fit"

I have one question that I want to ask you guys, since I've only been on test drives and couldn't really drive it the way I wanted....

How fun is it to drive?

Welcome to the Blog

They'er no type R in accelleration. I have an 08 Fit S and love it! I also have some old iron for the need for speed, but they r nimble well my 08 is I can't say what the ge's are like. They are great on gas milage from 34 to 40 mpg after the first 5k is on the odometer. And with the 12,000 + items on ebay customizing it is to the moon and back. This forum is a good place to get any info on the Fit because of the knowlege of the people here. If it can be modded, taken apart, fixxed, broken and fixxed, it's been done right here in these pages.
Welcome to FitFreaks .................

get a stick. no auto if you want fun to drive.

go test drive what you plan to purchase...i.e. auto, stick, navi,....btw, for 2010 manual tranny do not come with navi..only autos do.

then go on the color threads on this forum and choose your color. i have the 2009 white sport stick

handling will be better than your civics...but not sure about the type R (was it an integra?).....but you can correct any body roll with suspension. engine is peppy...its a nice car.

welcome.

I'll be honest, the Fit isn't going to set anybody's pulse racing because of its pace. However, it's the way you can maintain that pace through corners that's the main appeal of the car to drivers.

Less down to the right foot and more down to a good natured chassis, in other words. Very forgiving, too. Controls are light and the car itself barely weighs more than a ton. Only real complaint from me is subpar braking, but you can improve that with better tires.

Welcome and good luck on the purchase - post photos when your GE's in the garage

thanks for the welcome
The ITR was my track toy, so I definitely dont think the Fit will compare, no offense. Let's just say my driving style is "spirited" and I just wanted some insight on how the Fit handles. I'm definitely getting a manual, which is why I'm waiting for the '10's. I looked on both coasts and could not find the color/man trans combo that I want.

Type 100- I'm glad you mentioned something about the braking. I was wondering about that.

thanks again for the welcome

I went to the dealership last Saturday fully intending to buy a new Civic Si Coupe. But while I was there, I test drove a Fit just because I'd never been in one before and was curious.

Bought the Fit, '09 Sport w/MT in Blue Sensation Pearl. What does that tell you? Not as fast as the Civic by any stretch, but just freakishly fun to drive. I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Plus I held on to $5K.

I think you will be disappointed with the lack of power. Especially after driving your previous cars. Just know what you are getting into when you get a 120 hp car. Good luck with your car buying!!

PS get a manual. It was hard for me to track down the color/trans that I wanted but be patient.

the manual is fun to drive quick.. as long as you dont push it too far thinking it will go faster. cause it wont.

the auto is dramatically different from the manual... cant believe it's the same car sometimes.

Im sure sheis aware of the power difference and doesnt expect it to be as quick. Honestly My modded fit was more fun to drive than my modded S2000. Although I do miss my S2000.

I know I know. But you know how many posts we get about "lack of power" or "my tsx-s was faster" etc. etc.

The 2010's don't offer a manual with the Sport Navi package. Manual is available on the base, and sport models. I'm so glad I got an 09 Sport MT w/Navi & VSA.

Comparing it to the cars you've owned its no where near as fast. I've owned a few Acura's in the past, and it took a little getting used to the Fit. Other than the initial adjustment, I love my Fit more and more each time I drive it. For my car it initially felt bouncy and really prone to crosswinds, but at around 4500 miles it seemed like the suspension settled in and has better handling, and is more stable. At around 8500 miles the engine felt peppier, and as if it had a little more power, coincidentally that's when the 15% oil maintenance minder came on for the first oil change.

Guys, I know it is not as quick as the ITR, so I dont have any delusional expectations of speed. My current daily is the 95 EG Si with 235k, massive oil leak, and VTEC doesnt seem to work, lol, slow, but fun as hell to drive. And that's all I'm really looking for: fun, stable, nimble car to replace the hatch. And from the sounds of it, this is it.

I'm not really concerned with the Navi, apparently I'm the human equilivant of Garmin and have no use for it. VSA is for people with no talent. J/K I'm really not that cocky.

I'll post pics, and maybe some will have me in them...
Any word on when the 10's will arrive? Local dealers have said Nov... any one heard anything else?

Check dealer websites for new car listings. They're around but not in great numbers.

I got in my wife's 09 Solstice turbo GXP (290HP with GMPP tune) yesterday. She needed the Fit to carry some stuff. With the top up the Solstice is not much fun; what a relief getting back in the Fit. Comfort, driving ease, visibility. I can drive like a fool in the Fit and be a lot safer while zooming around corners in the parking lot or weaving around I285.
