Input from Previous Honda owners...?

I am a previous owner of a s2000, 325Ci Bimmer, RSX TypeS (current) and a host of other, higher HP vehicles, but..... I am almost 30 now and can't get away from Hondas grip and really like the direction they are going with the Fit! Recently, me and my wife test drove a Paddle-Shifting '08. She enjoyed the roominess and that she could drive it (most of all)!! I enjoyed that it felt like it had a good pull for the size of the motor and weight! It makes me feel like my first Honda back in 1998 (1991 Civic Si)!
Alright, Now for my question for the older guys who have possibly owned similar cars and now are driving the Fit... I am still into modifying my cars and this would be no exception!!
Are you guys happy with the vehicle? Kind of a open-ended question, but thats what I want to know, are the OG's feeling the Fit? Does it still make you guys happy?

I appreciate any input! I know ultimately, it's my decision, but I would like to hear from some of the old school guys that might have felt the same way....

Thanks, Adam

Hmm . . . well, I'm 38 so I qualify as an old guy, but I haven't had the caliber of cars like you've had prior. Still, I love my Fit and I've had it for near 1.5 yrs now. Nothing about it really rubs me the wrong way, and actually I've found that I like it more and more the longer I've got it. Nice thing about it is the fact that it is as moddable as it is. There are quite a few parts available for it, many of them top quality, and you can pretty much mod it up to suit your needs fairly easily. Also good are the driving dynamics, which for what it is are really pretty impressive. It's a fun car to drive and it will out handle just about anything in its class and even a few others here and there as well. I've autox'd it and it was a blast, and I'm sure once I start working on the suspension it'll get even better. The potential's there if you want to take the time to bring it out, that much is for certain.

i also have own a few other honda/acura badge vehicles(all preowned), i decided i wanted to get a new one with a warranty. it fits in all the categories that matter most to me: styling(4dr hatch), economical(good gas mileage and a reputation for reliability), and modability(future k20 swap when the warrant goes out and need that kick in the pants power).

otherwise i'm loving it and my last vehicles were both gs-r powered civics. so while i'm paying off the loan and saving money on gas, i plan to get the k20 project under way. i hope to start some autox this up coming season in the h-stock class in scca racing.

I owned an RSX Type-S. I still miss my RSX but this is a fun car to drive. It's also better for lugging stuff around in. There are alot of mods available for this car just like the RSX had and gas is a whole lot cheaper.

Im 37 and consider myself an old fart in training. Regarding your question about does the Fit make me happy. My answer would be yes, however that is because the Fit does exactly what I want it to do. Its a roomy little car with good mpg that gets me to and from work, as well as the occasional road trip. I don't ask any more from my VBP, and it happily gets me where I want to go. Granted it doesnt have the power of other cars, but thats not what I bought it for, and I consider its power adequate for my uses.

I hear you! My first car was a 1986 Honda Civic DX and I loved that car. I've had been looking for something that would give me that same feeling and the Fit is it. It's peppy, functional and lots of fun to drive. I've only had it for 3 months, but it makes me happy every time I drive it. My better half has an S2000, but he enjoys driving the Fit as well.

I've also had a 1998 Accord and a 2002 Civic Si. I found the Si disappointing and find that the Fit, even though it has less power, is definitely more fun.

I just turned 30 and hate my Fit! It makes my back hurt and is so slow I find myself missing my shows "matlock" and "murder she wrote". JK the Fit is awesome but my only gripe is about the power. You seem like you have an appritiation for speed so that's my 2 cents

I traded in a Twin Turbo Audi S4 for this, and don't regret it... one... single... bit... but I still have a type R in the garage.

I'm 38 and have owned many cars and SUV's over the years. Dynamically you can't beat the Fit for the ride, handling, room, and utility. My only complaint with it after 8 months and 13K on the odometer is with the quality of the carpet, and the with the paint. The carpet seems to wear through quite easily and the paint seems a little thin. I still have the urge to mod it, but haven't done much to it except for a set of HFP wheels and a Pioneer AVIC-D3. My next mods will probably be to get more power; CAI and exhaust.

As far as being an old guy, I definitely qualify. Some of the new cars I've owned included a 65 Mustang 289 4-speed 4bbl carb, a 1978 Datsun 280Z, and a 1969 Fiat 850 Spyder. They were all fun to drive, and they all had more power (except for the anemic Fiat, of course) but IMHO none of them were nearly as much fun to drive as the Fit. I used to street race the Mustang but I received a lot of tickets and fines, so obviously the Fit can't compare to that aspect, thank God, but for just the sheer joy of driving, the Fit wins hand down against the other cars. The shifter is first rate, the cornering is great, and the mileage is much better to boost. I've giving it "two very enthusiastic thumbs up."
