New guy checking in....
Hello all,
I originally registered last year but was not able to sell the car I was driving at the time, so I had to put my plans to buy a Fit on hold. After driving my '06 Si for another year or so, I was able to find a buyer willing to pay a decent price. I could have just traded it in, but hate the idea of giving away $1,200 to $1,500. Anyway, now I can start looking for a Fit.
I want a Sport 5M and have sent requests for quotes to all the local dealers. With a little luck, I'll be able to find what I want soon. I'm in central VA (22903), so if anyone knows any dealers within a couple hundred miles willing to make reasonable deals, let me know.
Thanks!
Erik

Turbo, I've always preferred to stir it myself. No need to stop now, right? Binary, thanks for the tip about Sheehy. I'll stay away from them. My local dealer is part of the Brown's family, so maybe they'll treat me right this time. When I bought my Si, they wanted $2,000 over MSRP.
Oh, I love your sig, by the way. I'm a big math geek (accountant) and that kind of stuff is right up my alley.

Well, Brown's gave me a straight price, even started negotiations at MSRP, which is nice. Sheehy, on the other hand, told me that he would not settle for less than 2000$ over MSRP, even when I returned with documents showing I had already put a deposit down at Browns for MSRP!

Hey, I'm in Columbia, MD. I got mine from Jim Coleman Honda (in...Laurel?), and they were awesome. I got my 2010 base auto for less than 15k. I named $16,920 as an OTD price, and they took it with basically no fight. Specifically Moon Koo (yeah, that's a name). I don't know how far away that really is from you, but thought I would throw that out there in case they would do a phone deal and you could just go get it. The only ones I know to stay away from: Browns City Honda and Ourisman Honda, both if which you probably would not have bothered with anyway.

Thanks Cherry, I think those might be a little far. The farther away they are, the cheaper they need to be to justify the drive.
I've been very busy on the phone and with email today. I requested 9 quotes on Edmunds and with 7 of the 9 replying so far, the best price I've gotten is $16,789. After adding in the $159 processing fee , I'm at $16,948, which is still a bit below MSRP. This is at Rule Honda in Staunton VA, by the way. If no one comes in any lower, that's the one I'm getting. Tax, license, tags, etc. is all the same so the only number I'm looking at is cost + delivery + proc fee. I can't believe one of these dealers has a proc fee of $399?!?! That's just robbery.
Just for comparison purposes, the highest so far has been $17,634 (West Broad Honda in Richmond). That's a huge difference, for sure. It certainly pays to shop around a bit.
Oh, and I also found out Honda has financing rates as low as 1.9% right now! I was planning on 4.9% from my credit Union, but not any more.

I live around Richmond VA and used the AAA price quote service. Within minutes I had several dealers calling me. In the end I found that the two dealers with the best prices were; Pohanka , and West Broad Honda . I ended up choosing west broad, but if I could re do it I would chose Pohanka. West broad B.S slot. Overall I recommend getting AAA atleast for this service, it saved me much more than it cost. It Aldo gave me a price point to start with.

Yeah, I figured, but it couldn't hurt to mention. Also, that was not my lowest price. I received a very good figure, then when I went they tried to tell me that I had misheard over the phone - 3 times. I had rented a car to make it to that dealer too, so I was pretty mad. I left immediately and went to a different dealer and bought that same night. Just be prepared to walk out if they try anything underhanded like that

Well, with all dealers now checking in, it looks like Rule Honda is the lowest. As far as color, my only condition was that it not be Blackberry. It's beautiful and all that, but I tend to not wash as often as I should and dark cars show dirt so bad. The car Rule is getting on the 26th is white, so that's what I'll take. I'll make sure they don't pull any funny business.
Now I just have to wait.

After looking at a handful of dealers, the only color I couldn't find was the BlackBerry. I didn't want that color, but I did want to see it. The only one I said no to was the sensation blue. That color would get old so fast.
You'll have a Thanksgiving car!

I didn't even realize that until I looked at a calendar. I think I'll plan on picking it up on Black Friday. That's pretty cool since I won't have to take any time off from work to go get it.
