Trying to Help a Friend: No 12v Outlet?
Hi FitFreaks.
I'm trying to help a cluless friend with a 08 Fit and she tells me there is no 12v accessory outlet under the cap just a plastic filler.
Is this true, that some of these cars ship without accessory outlets?
Second are these outlets plug and play if you buy the harness or do you have to wire it all the back to the fuse box/engine bay. I've never looked at her car before.
I did a few searches but I couldn't find an exact answer other than everyone wants a 12V outlet in the rear.
Thanks for the help,
Sean

There should be a metal outlet inside the plastic tube. If not then if you have a warranty take it in. Sounds like it got missed in assembly.
If it was a used car you will have to pull the center console and see if the wires are there. if they are, go to the dealer and get the part and install it. It just snaps in and then clips to the wire.
If the wire isn't there, well then you have to run a new wire to power and make sure it is fused (or install a fuse inline) but you still have to buy the socket from Honda to clip into the console holder.
To run one in back just tuck the wire under the carpet from front to back removing the sill plate at the door bottom. Cut a hole in the panel where you want it and install an outlet (with or without cover the auto parts stores carry both for under $15) and you are home free. Just make sure to connect the center of the outlet to + (positive) and the outside to - (negative).

Hey guys thanks for the help. She brought her car over and I realized she wasn't pushing in the her adapter far enough so she thought the 12v outlet wasn't working or wasn't there. jeesh, women.
Thanks,
Sean
