Hi all, I'm new here and new to the Fit, though not to Hondas. My other Honda has only two wheels and is my true passion.
After much research I picked the Honda Fit after 30 years of driving VW GTIs, 20 years in my last one. It is a change to be sure, but I couldn't justify $30,000 plus for a new GTI when what I'm looking for is basic, reliable, economical transportation with a reasonable level of creature comfort and performance.
Anyway, I've been reading through the numerous threads and posts here, trying to make some sense of the large variety of models and trim levels being discussed. Finally found a comprehensive description on Wikipedia that cleared a lot of things up. Otherwise, there seems to be wealth of knowledge here for me to tap into.
Oh ya, Had my Fit for just over a week now. Base model, manual transmission (DX-A), black (my favourite colour), no other accessories. I made the dealer throw in the all weather floor mats and the rear cargo shelf, something I felt should be standard. On the to do list, a leather wrap for the steering, window tint and a set of alloy wheels (snow shoes for the stock steel wheels).
Anyway, enough blah blah...
Merry Christmas all

Welcome to Fitfreak! I think you will find that the Fit is today what the GTI used to be before VW decided to make the current car into an A3 for everyman (with deep pockets) Agile, reliable, fuel efficient, and a huge hoot to drive.
Welcome Barb! Earlier in the summer when I was shopping for a new car I also considered a new VW GTI but like you, couldn't justify the price difference between the Fit and GTI. I think we both made the right decision!
