I know its pretty random unless you hit something, in this case I didn't. But the drivers side wheel bearing on my '07 Fit Sport went bad. The car has a little under 44K miles. I just wanted to give it a shout in case there are others out there and it may be a defect that needs looking into. Safety first. hehe

You know that's a good question. I haven't brought the car in yet, but if I am not mistaken the wheel bearing is not considered part of the power train, hence I don't think it's covered. Can someone here confirm?

 

All it takes is a little nick or break in the bearing seal or a few pieces of dirt to get trapped in there while making the bearing to cause an early failure. I have also seen balls or rollers fracture if dirt gets trapped in them during the casting process. It is extremely rare, but it happens.

As Steve said, I bet it's covered. It was on my '06 Civic and on my Odyssey. FWIW, we just replaced one of the rear bearings on the Civic at approximately 85,000 kms (~53k mi).

 

He doesn't state if it's front or rear (I just assumed front). If it's the rear it may not be.

 

The warranty doesn't discriminate between front / rear - at least not on the Civic or the Odyssey.

I guess I could have added the "replaced under warranty" to my previous post.

 

if you need to replace it (buy a new one), don't go to a dealer or a car parts dealer... instead go somewhere where they sell bearings, in qc city we have "motion industries" they have SKF bearings that will be perfect... for a lot less than what you would get somewhere else. all you need is the ref. number

 

my driver side front bearing's bad (howling at speed) but not getting worse for the last 4-5months so im still on the bad bearing. hahahahaha.

 

My Z had a bad bearing at 30k miles... replaced under warranty
