Ipod/USB/Fit Question????

New here...

Question: Will keeping my Ipod hooked to the USB cable, while the vehicle is off, hurt the car in anyway?? Like take battery life or something...

Thanks guys and gals

haha Common sense says that the extended cold will harm the iPod, but I haven't brought mine indoors for months. Even if it's 0°F for extended periods, it's fine. I have the 60 GB (I think?) iPod classic with a hard drive inside. If its life is shortened, I'll one day find out. This is it's second winter in the car.

It will pull power from the USB cable. I brought my frozen iPod into my office in December. It played all day and only used half the battery. YMMV. It probably wouldn't last very long on battery power alone if it were not allowed to warm up.

I left my ipod in the car for an entire winter and never noticed any problem?

Here's how I rig a USB flash drive on a Fit Sport:

Velcro keeps the flash drive up and out of the way, and prevents any rattles. The hook Velcro on the car is a wide strip, big enough to attach an iPod, should I wish to use one instead of the flash drive.

With an iPod, I would worry about condensation if it were taken inside from a cold car. Flash drive has no moving parts, and is essentially impervious -- I have inadvertently run them through a washing machine more than once without problems.
