Oil life
My first 2 changes (@5%) were at 7,500 miles. The 3rd one was about 9,000 miles later -- which I did a little early because I was about to take a really long road trip. It was probably headed to 10,000 miles @ 5%.

Wow! 9000 miles between oil changes. That's impressive, albeit a little uncomfortable for me. Are your miles mostly long highway miles with limited spirited driving? From my mileage and oil life reading, it looks like I'm heading towards a 10000 mile oil change too. I'll probably end up doing it at no more than 7000 miles though. Maybe when the Fit gets older and I won't care as much I'll change it at 10000 mile intervals (or 5%).Remind me: Does the manual recommend changing the oil at 15% or 5%? Or is it between 15% to 5%?
Amazing. I didn't know regular dino oil could go up to 9k. I know on the Honda manual, it says under normal conditions you should change the oil at 7.5k.
Really throws that bs out the window with everyone telling you to change your oil every 3k miles. I've been changing my oil every 9k with synthetic the last few years. On BMW's and BENZ, they recommend 12-15k oil changes with synthetic.

They might be telling you to change the oil at longer entervals so they can claim lower maintenace costs,,,,,that's not nessarily the best for your engine. Today people want a car that is "hands off", turn-key , low maint. Running an engine for 13K with the same oil is fine,,unless the oil filter develops a hole allowing small particals to circulate around the engine for that amount of time or the oil gets contaiminated. Even a good filters can't get 100% of the particals out, so why drive with 10K worth of junk in there going round and round? Just cuz the manf says 100,000 mile befor a tune-up dosn't keep me from changin the plugs sooner. There are alot of things that could go wrong with the system to allow damage to occur IMHO. For me, new oil, every 3K minimizes any chance of something goin wrong. Just my way of maintaining my car,,you can do it how YOU want to. But I just don't feel like the people telling me that I can go such long distances without maintenace are telling me this because it's best for longjevity. I think they're using it as a selling point to those who look for low maint. vehicles. JMHO
