Buying used fit

Has anyone dealt with carmax before?
I want a 07, or 08 fit but they're never around. I've noticed carmax always has them, but you have to transfer them which makes me wonder how well that works out.

Check edmunds (or KBB) used car prices. Carmax won't rip you off, but you won't get the best price there.

edit: just checked an 07 white sport manual in Jacksonville FL they list for $13600. Edmunds prices it at $13,179 (dealer retail, not "certified") plus a transfer fee of $250. Do your own checking.

As far as working with them, they have a 7 day, no questions asked return policy. I once bought the wrong car from them and there was no hassle giving it back (as long as there's no trade-in to deal with I guess).

Carmax is always so high on Fits! And the mileage is pretty high too. Go private sale, with a Honda you won't get ripped off.

I actually found a blue 08 sport 5spd with 15k miles at carmax for $13,999
That doesn't seem excessive, looks clean too.

Well if it's the only one you can find...I'd still go private if it were me. But it's your nickel! And it's not easy to find Fits selling privately, I know that. I wonder what they gave the seller for it???

Two guys I work with just found their Fits at private dealers, both in great shape. I would check around first, keep at it, something is bound to come up. Find a reputable place and keep checking local dealers too, I personally don't care for carmax. Seems like a thrift store, sort of like the christmas tree shops!

I baught my Fit at Carmax and had an overall pleasent experience. Probably could have founda better price but I got what I wanted.

2009 Honda Fit Sport MT in Milano Red. Car had 22K miles on with a price of $14,995 ($15,700 OTD). I live in VA and had the car transfered in from Raleigh, NC free of charge. The transfer took ~4 days and arrived just as promissed, no suprises.

I guess the one little bonus was that it had floor mats installed

I bought my fit at carmax, and I did have a battery go out within the first month, which I thought should not have happened. They did replace it for me, which I was shocked but happy about. I have also had to replace a tire, as they were already shredding, to me this should not happen within the first year. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase though.

Did you buy the 08 Fit? What happened? Also why not buy the '09 instead of the '08?

I don't know about FL, but in GA you still don't have to pay sales tax if you buy from a private seller, that is something I waited for as I want all of my $$ to go to the purchase price of the car and not to sales tax if I can help it.

I think GA is getting ready to change this rule though...
