Question Japanese Fit Fuel Economy

Hi folks,
I noticed that Japanese market 1.5L Fits get 45+ mpg... is it possible to modify the US market engine to achieve this degree of fuel economy?

Best wishes,
CK

You could drive at Japanese road speeds which are 80km/hr absolute max on freeways and 40km/hr or less around the cities. Fuel economy is heaps better at 80km/hr than 100km/hr or more.

Also, remember that overseas, they use a different "gallon" than we do.

We use the US Liquid Gallon, which is 4 quarts or 3.785411784 Litres.
Overses, they use the Imperial Gallon which is 4.54609 Litres. There's a BIG difference, but in the wrong direction... 41 imperial gallons is like 49.xx US gallons.

They also use a totally different testing system. In the US, fuel economy numbers are based on EPA tests on a rolling dyno. In Japan, they use a different test, at different speeds, and whatnot. There's no way to easily compare Japanese fuel economy number to American.
